Default A Season for ASD Subscribers

Fort Lauderdale happens every spring.

Spamming and trolling on SCD happens every day lately and really
crushes the spirit and dilutes the mission of the group. People love to
abuse the freedom afforded by Usenet.

I've been posting here since 1996 and even though I changed diets and
had some feuds and hot flashes on the board, ASD was a great source of
help and inspiration in helping me to reach goal.

This is a call to arms--and legs, butts and thighs.

Please ASD veterans (and not the Lady V) come out of the woodwork so we
can eclipse the idiots with their crazy acting-out agendas who have
nothing better to do than try and disrupt a group with valid goals.

The seasons are changing. It's Fall and time to fall into something
smaller.

This is not the place for cardiac evangelists and people who disapprove
of appropriate weight loss.

Let's get back to basics, good diets, good nutrition, appetizing food,
healthy activities, positive and determined attitudes, patience and
supportive information and suggestions.

Let's hear from you long timers, old timers and even the sometime-ers.
Abd to the idiit fringe, "May all your fits be had on Fitday".

Its caleb season....

I've fought for this group over the years and I'm sorry to say, I just don't
have the energy or will to fight for it any more. Ignoramus has done his
job well, of ruining the group. Dr. Chung and his trusty sidekick Mu
destroyed it long ago.

This group just doesn't do it for me any more.

Not to sound defending. But Ig has been an inspiration for me quite a few
times. He is one of those people that you either hate or like. There is
no in between. He has a blunt way of stating what he feels. Some of
his words has slapped me in the face and actually gave me a wake up call.
I would not go as far and say he has aided in ruining the group. Now
there are many many others that have. Even from the short months I have
been posting to ASD the spam has gotten almost unbearable. Thank goodness
for filters.

((( waves to Ig )))

I am glad you have found inspiration in Ig. Its not so much as to what he
says its what he does. Constant cross posts that will institute flame wars
in apposing groups. Constantly bringing up personal names and issues of
people who have gone thru some troubles to reserve some annonimitity, etc.
His bluntness has never been an issue for me, as a metter of fact, most
members here would probably state that I'm one of the more forthcoming,
forward, bluntly honest people here. I tell it like I see it, which many
times upsets people because, face it, the truth hurts.
I have defended Ig for this many times in the past. But I grew tired of
his constant disregard for usenet rules, rules of this particular group and
for total lack of respect to others.

I haven't used ASD much lately, simply because I'm not trying to
lose weight at the moment -- I'm merely maintaining what I've already
lost (and am not interested in talking about that). I do check in once
in a while, but few interesting threads seem to exist; people seem to
be more interested in nit-picking than supporting, and chasing off
the more sensitive posters (Dewolla comes to mind). Ah well, that's
the breaks on Usenet; it can be a great tools, but gives the bullies
a golden opportunity to ply their craft.

Still, the back-to-school season will herald my return to weight
loss, so I'll try to be a positive contributor at that time... :-)

For me it's been mostly a matter of having the time to post. Since
Marty died I've been working to get my body fat back to normal,
catching up on my business, including putting together a weight loss
and diabetes drug database, and renovating my house.

I also have some back problems, and will be going to physical therapy.
The back problems are due to severe pronation in my right foot, a
result of old gymnastics injuries.

I also found a mass in my back, and need that followed up. MRI has
been rescheduled for Saturday. Physical diagnosis indicates lipoma, a
very common, benign tumor. The lipoma is on the other side of my back
and not related to the back pain.

So I continue to have a kind of full plate.

But as far as trolls go, I just kill file them. If Rosie or Mu pop up
their ugly little heads, I just put the new incarnation into my kill
file. Same for Bob who likes to fight Mu, and all the fat acceptance
trolls. You'd be surprised how uncrowded it gets in here, if you just
reduce the noise. A kill filter is the ASD version of ear plugs.

Ig doesn't bother me. Sometimes I correct his incorrect
interpretations of medical research, sometimes I don't. I don't always
have time. But I assume that all of you are smart enough to question
anything you read, regardless of the source, even if it's me.

Anyway, come the fall I should have more time, as I'm really working
hard on all my projects.

Hope you are all doing well.

PS Just realized my 7th anniversary of weight maintenance is coming
up.

Congratulations on the upcoming 7th anniversary.

It sounds like you do have a full plate. I certainly hope the medical
problems are solved soon and we see you back posting more often.
