Food & Exercise -- Friday 10/1 through Sunday 10/3

Default Food & Exercise -- Friday 10/1 through Sunday 10/3

We spent the weekend on a short vacation with my mother-in-law --
stayed in a B&B near Harper's Ferry, and toured Harper's Ferry,
Antietam, a winery. etc. We had big breakfasts at the B&B and nice
(and large) restaurant meals -- and in general I ate a lot and
exercised little. -- about which I feel a tad guilty. But we came
home last night and I'm back on the wagon.

(My MIL, by the way, thinks I'm too thin :-).)

Food:

Friday -- 10/1:

7:15 (driving to gym): chocolate ready-to-drink protein shake

9:15 (diner w/ Tom): 2 fried eggs; English muffin w/ butter; 8 oz.
grapefruit juice

12:45 (restaurant): 1 dinner roll; 8 mussels w/ marinara sauce; salad
w/ 1 cup greens & 1 tbs balsamic vinaigrette; 6 oz. wine

6:45 (restaurant): 1 small piece bread w/ olive oil; 1/3 fried
portabella mushroom stuffed w/ spinach & cheese; 5 oz. filet mignon; 1
oz. onion rings; s'mores dessert (2 graham crackers; melted
marshmallow; chunks of white & dark chocolate; drizzle of chocolate
sauce); 10 oz. wine

Totals: 2227 calories (343 from wine), 70g fat (28%), 203g carbs
(36%), 108g protein (19%)

Saturday -- 10/2:

7:45 (B&B): 1/2 cup red grapes

9:30 (B&B): 6 oz. orange juice; 1/2 cup fresh fruit; 1 ham & egg
timbale (little pastry shell with a sort of quiche-like filling); 2
small sausages; 1 sugar-glazed date muffin

12:45 (confectioner's shop in Harper's Ferry): 1 ice cream cone (1
scoop chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream in sugar cone); 1/2 piece
fudge

2:30 (restaurant): salad w/ 1 cup greens; 5 oz. grilled salmon; 1/2
hard-boiled egg; 6 olives; 1/2 tomato; 3 tbsp Greek vinaigrette

8:30 (restaurant -- set menu multi-course dinner): 3 small grilled
shrimp; 1 cup onion velvet soup (a sort of light cream soup); 1/2 cup
penne pasta w/ a little shredded cheese melted on it; 4 oz. pork
tenderloin w/ a sort of fruit reduction; 1 oz. carrots; 1 oz.
broccoli; 4 grilled cherry tomatoes; small salad -- 1/2 cup mixed
greens w/ vinaigrette; small cheese plate (2 crackers; 1/2 oz. brie; 1
date; 1 dried apricot); 1/2 cup dark chocolate mousse; 10 oz. wine

Totals: 2447 calories (214 from wine), 105g fat (39%), 216g carbs
(35%), 111g protein (18%)

Averages for the week: 1721 calories, 28% fat, 40% carbs, 31% protein
{lots of calories}

Sunday -- 10/3:

9:00 (B&B): 6 oz. orange juice; 1/2 cup fresh fruit; breakfast
casserole w/ crabmeat & cheese; 2 small sausages; cherry coffee cake

12:00 (terrace at winery): 4 oz. wine; 3 chunks French bread; 2 oz.
smoked Gouda; 1 oz. goat cheese; 1 oz. salami; 2 oz. tapenade (olive
spread)

5:00 (home): 1 oz. peanuts

8:00 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

Totals: 1951 calories (86 from wine), 95g fat (44%), 163g carbs (33%),
89g protein (18%)

Exercise:

Friday:

8:00 a.m. -- gym session -- bench, upper body:

Bench: 1x10x45; 1x10x65; 1x5x65 fast; 1x3x85; 1x1x105; 1x1x115;
1x1x125; 2x1x135; 2x5x95

DB Incline Bench: 2x8x25s

Cable Flyes: 1x10x4 plates

Cable Flye/Press Combinations: 1x10x4 plates

Machine Shoulder Press: 2x8x60

Standing DB Lateral Raise: 1x15x7.5s

Sort of wide flyes at various angles w/ the 7.5s -- for shoulder
rotation-- 15 on each side

Skull crushers (overhead triceps extensions) followed by close grip
presses: 5 skull crushers followed by 10 presses

Triceps pressdowns: 2x10x4 plates

Standing DB biceps curls: 1x15x17.5s

The rest of the weekend: Just a bit of walking around historic sites.
My MIL wasn't up for much walking, but I occasionally vectored off on
my own for a bit to climb observation towers and such.

Well, she thinks it's weird, anyway. But -- despite thinking I'm too
thin -- she's impressed by the results :-).
