Soda makes a person gain weight?
Hello;
First off; I would like to introduce myself; My name is Phillip and I am a 20 year old 5' 9. I've been overweight most of my life, but until I got out of high school my weight drop from 260 to 145 in about 2 years. When I got out of school I wanted to drop the extra weight because I started to have chest pains; plus, maybe have a better life at a job than I did at school. The first thing I gave up was soda (I was a heavy soda drinker) at one time I starved myself for weeks, thats when the weight really fell off. Recently; I started drinking soda again, because I got tired of diet and water and I gained 10 pounds fast; (155 now) Usually; I can eat a whole pizza and not gain any weight, but why is it when I drink soda I put weight on? I saw a doctor about it and he was amazed that I lost 115 pounds within two years without doing any exercising, saying it isn't normal to lose weight without exercising. I never exercised a day in my life. I read somewhere that sleeping alot can make a person lose weight; is that true? Because I sleet alot. Or stress? I was stressed out in high school from being picked-on alot. Am I going to gain all the weight back again? Should I start starving again? I dropped the soda; but my weight isn't going with it! Also, As I was dropping the weight my stretchmarks got worse; why? I have more around my arms, stomach area, ect.. than i did when I was fat. Does anyone here have them? They are still getting worse for no reason; my skin isn't stretching. How do I get rid of them? Thanks; Phillip |

Soda makes a person gain weight?
Hi Phillip,
Good for you with the weight loss. Starvation isn't a good way to do it, but its done. Don't starve yourself again, its not healthy in a lot of ways. Overall, its a matter of how many calories you consume. Soda has a lot of sugar and its really fattening. Get used to diet soda, its not so bad after a while. Consider walking every day. Not just for the body, but for the mind. It clears your head & helps to fight depression. Mike wrote in message oups.com... You can't be healthy without a variety of good foods and exercise. Get plenty of fiber because it fills you up. Dried beans, peas, and lentils are a good source of fiber and also effective against high levels of LDL cholesterol. Oats, nuts, and legumes like soy nuts mixed together are a significant source of fiber, contain all the amino acids your body needs, and taste pretty good too. Vegetables and fruit are good sources of fiber as well as tasting good. You need your 8 hours of sleep to help your body produce leptin and not produce a lot of ghrelin, two hormones that affect appetite. You need fluids because hunger is sometimes a mask for dehydration. Keep your intake of caffeine and alcohol low because both of them are diuretics and interfere with sleep. An hour of aerobic exercise can suppress your appetite for an hour. The CDC recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days a week besides activity associated with work or housekeeping. This can help you sleep, promote regularity, counteract osteoporosis, prevent some cancers, fight cholesterol and blood pressure problems, and prevent diabetes. Regular soda has huge amounts of sugar. Diet soda leaches calcium from your bones. Drink water, milk, and juice. |

Soda makes a person gain weight?
watch that starvation stuff.. unless he's going to starve all his
life... that starvation diet backfires double time. lose 40lbs gain 80 back if you go back to eating right. and diet soda is a bad idea also. best thing to do.. is don't drink processed garbage.. it's bad enough most our foods we buy from manufacturers is full of inert material that builds up in the system. soda over all.. any crap drinks like soda, sugary, candied fruit drinks.. all that fancy kids stuff makes those arteries brittle and funges up the intestines.. DRINK WATER and FRUIT JUICES that aren't 'contaminated' with 'additives'. |

Soda makes a person gain weight?
Along with other good advice that's already been given by others, I
want to note that your metabolism is likely to slow down a little bit as you move from your teens into your twenties -- and to keep on doing so year by year. A lifestyle that worked for you to lose and maintain your weight a few years ago may no longer be as effective -- and adding soda is clearly not going to be a step in the right direction :-). I'd suggest weaning yourself from that habit, and starting to add some exercise to your lifestyle. Exercise is good for a whole lot of things in addition to weight loss/maintenance, and you will do yourself many favors by starting to do some. The change in metabolism is very small. The drop in exercise is very large. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |
