Fessing up to the Group
Hey Karen- those scales are definitely from a different planet. Evil, nasty things. (Just like Gollum) Anyway - why not update your starting weight by the 9 lbs too? After all, take credit for the pounds you have already lost? By the way, how's the Dairyland thing hitting Armstrong? My husband works for Dairyland here - looks like he might lose his job after 20 years. Brenda - putting on a brave face, but actually devastated. Thanks Brenda.. didnt think to up the starting weight LOL Ooohh.. that's so ugly thinking I was really at 225 to start. But you're right.. no matter how i look at it.. their scale or mine.. I have lost. 31lbs !! yippee. As for Dairyland... It's a tough one. People here are already not finding enough work.. so with a major employer like that going down.. It's harsh. Not to mention the big taxes the company paid to the city .. now that all has to be absorbed by regular tax payers. Yikes. I'm so sad to hear that your husband's job is also in Jeopardy Are they downsizing or closing that plant? 20 years is a long time to be anywhere and then have to start over . But .. the best part of that.. is that it looks great on a resume to have been that good of an employee. I'm sure positive things will happen for you... is there a chance you could bump into a different location ? I'll be thinking of you... the whole economy is shaky in BC as I understand it.. I think we're all in for a rough one . ~Karen~ ~Karen~ 225/194/fit and fab start Jan17/03 Started at the gym September/03 Yeah - no matter what you've lost the weight - so claim it. ( I think my actual highest weight was actually around 215 not 205 as I started the group with) At this point, Dairyland is not closing down this plant, but all the employees from the other plants sold or closed, can bump employees with lower seniority at any other plant. So, it looks like my husband will be bumped and depending on where he is on the list, he will "not" get the option of bumping anyone lower. Unfortunately for us, our age is a major factor against us. And because we live in a small town, opportunities are very limited. My job is stable for the time being, so I think we would stay here and he would commute maybe to Vancouver??? Who knows???? All the options feel like crap right now. We just remortgaged the house to payoff our daughters university tuition $45,000+ and bought a newer truck last Saturday - got the news Monday. So, needless to say, worrying about finances is high on my list. Hey - maybe this will translate to not eating and more weightloss. Could be a silver lining somewhere!! Brenda W |

I will certainly keep my fingers crossed for your hubby. I know in the Armstrong plant.. there is alot of talk of people just retiring or not moving. So perhaps that will be encouraging for you. The options in small towns can definately be drawbacks. You have the want of not wanting to be in the Metro areas.. and then the reality.. that there isn't a whole lot of employment choice close by. I hope you find a silver lining somewhere too... but I most certainly hope it's not Stressful weightloss. Weightloss is fine... just not fueled by that. {{hugs}} from me to you I know the money worry game all too well. ~Karen~ ~Karen~ 225/194/fit and fab start Jan17/03 Started at the gym September/03 |
