How do your jeans fit
"Jennifer Austin" wrote in message
... I'm having the same problem finding full length pants! I'm always freezing and stopped wearing capris almost a month ago, though I do still wear above the knee skirts (with panty hose starting this week and ready for tights). I'm looking for navy colored corduroys to go with a wardrobe of sweaters I just received as a gift. Navy is not the color for this year . I'm not a capri-type person. Wouldn't be caught dead in them. But I love lowrise Old Navy jeans! I have two pair size 12, and right now, they fit wonderfully. I suspect in a few more lost pounds, I'll go down to size 10, and I'm looking forward to it. I only wish lowrise boot cut jeans came in black, I like black jeans the best, but I can't stand jeans that sit at the waist, they're just not as comfy, and all black jeans are waist high. Martha |

Could you possibly "dye" your other jeans black? I work at a place which has a "uniform" code. We were given two pair of pants a year. I had about eight pair of these pants. We were wearing these light brown pants. Then a new supervisor took over and he wanted us to wear black pants. They gave us two pairs of the the black pants. But I live alone (widowed male) and I do not have a washing machine in my apartment. I have to go to a laundry matt across the street and I don't like to go that often. I bought some dye and used my forty gallon plastic waste bucket as the means to dye my brown pants into black. It worked real well for me. Monte |

Martha Gap has some in "whiskered black" and Old Navy has some ultra low rise boot cut jeans in black. I'm going to try on some low rise jeans today just to see how they fit. Last time I did, the belly hung over the waist more than I cared for, but if I could wear low rise, then I'd have a better selection. I also love black jeans, but the ones I have faded after the first wash. Jennifer |

Right now I still need shoes and we need some stuff for around the house so that's where this month's expendable income is going (tomorrow actually). Mentally I still have a hard time spending more than $15 on any article of clothing these days even though I have an excellent seamstress that could make alterations if necessary since I'm not planning to get much smaller than I am now. I need to get over the guilt at how much I've spent on my wardrobe. I, unfortunately, have turned into a clothes shopping addict :-). I do need clothes, but not in the quantities I've been buying. It's just so gratifying to try on clothes that fit and look good. But I've had things that have gone into the Goodwill pile before I've ever worn them, because they get too large fairly quickly. I am fortunate to have expendable income sufficient to support this addiction, but it's still wasteful, and I know I should wait until I'm at a size I plan to maintain. And I don't have room for all my clothes! I've kind of taken over the guest room with them. (I don't mean just the closet, but piles on the bed and stuff.) I know DH doesn't really approve of all this, but he doesn't ever criticize, just sort of laughs at me a bit. Chris (who just yesterday bought a winter coat (necessary, at least -- couldn't really wear a size 22 any more) and a boiled wool jacket at Burlington Coat Factory and a jeans jacket and 3 sweaters at Old Navy) |

At a yardsale this morning I found an LL Bean microfleece anorak (size small!) for fifty cents! It looks like a gift that was never worn. I have to do something about the piles of clothes or my husband is threatening to buy one of those Wal-Mart wardrobe/dresser things :-/. This is the first year ever I've put away clothes by season. Start: 2/02 Maintained since 2/03 This thread is getting me in a shopping moodg Of course, it doesn't take much to put me in that mood. I need to get in there and clear out my walk-in to make room for more. It's a good thing I don't have to share the walk-in with anyone. The shopping might have to wait until next week as I'm spending for the house this weekend - new storage shed, old landscaping ripped out and hauled away and a couple trees taken down. Beverly |

But in the spring I put away all of the winter stuff that still fit, even though I knew it was unlikely it would fit when we got back to fall again. And it won't -- I was 25-30 lbs. heavier then -- so it will mostly go to charity, I guess. Maybe I can still wear a few sweaters? I figure in a few weeks it will be time to go through that stuff and give away most of it. And I'll put away the things I've been wearing this summer. We shall see what happens when I get them out in the spring. I know I won't lose as rapidly now -- and I may stabilize at a weight that's not terribly far below where I am now -- but I don't know. I have been trying to limit the quantity but it's hard when you have work clothes and workout clothes. I have the same problem of buying something and not having the chance to wear it. I've always been a clothes shopping addict regardless of size. I am fortunate to have expendable income sufficient to support this addiction, but it's still wasteful, and I know I should wait until I'm at a size I plan to maintain. I know DH doesn't really approve of all this, but he doesn't ever criticize, just sort of laughs at me a bit. Money isn't the issue here either. My DH encourages me to get what I want, even going so far as to encouraging me to try on things if he sees me looking longingly at an item Fortunately I haven't filled my closet yet because I keep rotating stuff out and sending it to Goodwill or now giving it to friends at work. Chris (who just yesterday bought a winter coat (necessary, at least -- couldn't really wear a size 22 any more) and a boiled wool jacket at Burlington Coat Factory and a jeans jacket and 3 sweaters at Old Navy) Jennifer (who found navy cords today - mid rise, flat front size 10, paid full price and got a great cargo skirt too, but still can't find the right pair of shoes) |
