Default UK: Benjys offer low carb option

Discovered today thanks to a couple of colleagues that the sandwich
chain "Benjys" (www.benjys-sandwiches.com) are doing a line of 'low
carb friendly' lunches, which could be useful for people like me who
work and want a cheap-ish meal, or who are stuck in the city for the
day or are travelling. I've found that travelling low carb is
particularly difficult in Britain given the universality of the potato
chip and the sandwich, and this should help a bit.

Choices include a 'meat platter' which was ham, egg, brie, and a bit
of salad. Folks perhaps need to tell them not to include the honey
roast ham (lots of emails to their customer service people can't do
any harm) but it will do in an emergency, a container of chicken wings
(which they will do hot for 30p extra), a container of spicy meatballs
with a sachet of Heinz mayo (which again they will do hot for 30p
extra) and a tuna salad with no pasta and no rice. Not sure about the
low carb credentials of this last one, because the mayo is 'light'
which tends to mean higher carbs, and one of the veggies is carrot
which is higher glycemic than one would ideally like.

Have to say, though, it is a start, the only other thing I've seen
advertised as low carb is Michelob Ultra. And it gives me an
opportunity to vary my lunch; smoked mackerel, which I've been eating
most days for lunch since I started LC, has started to bore even me.

Yep - ran across one of these in Birmingham(The Palisades next to =
Central Library) It didn't look particularly appetising however and I =
gave it a miss. instead I had Egg Mayo, cheese, ham and a green salad =
for =A31.07 from the student canteen at College.
