Default is there always so much advertising that's off topic in this newsgroup?

just subscribed to this newsgroup, looking for a little moral support with
my low carb diet

why are there ads for Delhi Escort Services?

just wondering!

There's been an increase in this kind of spam on Usenet ever since spring
breaks began in the USA. I don't know if that is relevant, or not, it's just
notable to me. However, I will say that it seems to be continuing perhaps a
little more here.

I'm wishing about now that I knew more about non-simple kill filtering in the
most recent version of Agent!

It's not specific to this group. Several of the newsgroups I follow
are being hit with it. This has happened in the past, but usually it
only lasts for a few days. This time it's more extensive and
continuing.
