Default Fox News Report

I just saw all three segments via the links, and imhop, it was pretty
balanced, even perhaps a bit biased toward low carb (at least given the
climate of everyone else.) On the first segment, they had an expert who was
pro low carb, an expert who was anti low carb, on the second they went into
low carb specialty products and on the third they implied some confusion
about the labeling of low carb products, the ambiguity, the fda's agreements
that the labeling was ok, and ended with the segment that by the time the
fda gets around to changing their labeling, we will have changed food fads
and gone on to the next way of staying fit.

The only thing that seriously irked me is that blonde with the bad teeth who
said labeling something as low carb was like labeling something like low in
vitamin C.

Hello "bookalley" and all;

You stole a bit of my thunder in posting this note; but said pretty well
what I was going to say. I had wanted Dawn and others to reply after they
had had a chance to see what was presented; and discuss their evaluation of
that presentation.

Yes. I wasn't so much irked by the "... blonde with the bad teeth ..." and
her remarks, as I was by the implication that eating lo-carb is some kind of
fad.

Perhaps *someone* should write Fox news, and explain to 'em that humans have
been eating things on this planet for many millions of years. It's only in
the last couple of hundred that we've been overwhelmed with the "fad" of
eating pure, raw, processed carbohydrates... Dawn, are you up for that?

Later all,
DustyB

Dawn is up to her eyeballs doing research for a screenplay, but will
be happy to support anything you write to any media outlet at any
time. :-)

Nothing on Fox news is "balanced," or "fair" for that matter.

It's Fox. They have no interest in accuracy.

By "baseless" you mean that you don't agree.

Which is fine.

But the charge that Fox is slanted is hardly baseless. In fact, you've
been pointed at information regarding this already. You'd just rather
stick your fingers in your ears and go "La la la la, stupid liberals,
I can't hear you ....!"

You've never been concerned about press accuracy before. Why all the
hubub over Fox these days? Could it be they're covering stories you
don't like? Throwing softballs to the wrong people?

room?

By "baseless" you mean that you don't agree.

No, it means that it's an unsubstantiated opinion. The writer has every
right to have, hold, and present his opinion. But it is just that: an
opinion. And in light of all of the evidence that I've seen, an opinion
that is specifically and pointedly wrong. Airing a wrong opinion or
conclusion 10,000 times makes it widely wrong, not right by virtue of its
repetition!

Which is fine.

We agree completely.

But the charge that Fox is slanted is hardly baseless. In fact, you've

Yes. Fox, as an information provider *is* slanted. Unlike the rest of the
news digesters, it presents *news* in a relatively neutral manner. And it
presents "talking-heads" and talk-show hosts who are paid to dispense their
*opinion* with a definite conservative slant!

But _NEWS_ is *not* the same as _OPINION_! A concept liberals seem unable
(or unwilling) to grasp.

If you don't like Hannity or O'Reilly, or the other talking heads, then turn
them off and listen to some liberal smarm somewhere--it's not too hard to
find.

But the *NEWS* part of their "product" seems to be pretty fair and even.

AFAICT; liberals dote on folks that dispense OPINION, as if it were NEWS.
They predigest it for you and put their own spin on it. That's why you
can't abide raw news, it's because you don't know what to do when you have
to *think* and evaluate something!

been pointed at information regarding this already. You'd just rather
stick your fingers in your ears and go "La la la la, stupid liberals,
I can't hear you ....!"

No! *You* pointed out an OPINION piece written by an author with an agenda
who is hardly known to be even-handed in any instance. And that's fine as
well. *You* are welcome to receive your news predigested by anyone you
wish.

But what I already pointed out to you, and *you* apparently read it with
your fingers in your ears singing, "La la la la, stupid conservatives, I
can't hear you ....!" What the author of that piece so carefully crafted,
and what you took out of it was: the Fox on-air personalities and talk-show
hosts take conservative positions (this is a fact). His conclusion from
that was, then their news must have a conservative or right-wing slant as
well (this is conjecture). And you and your ilk simply suck that up as if
it was true. It's not!

Damn it, Dawn, you sound like a cultured literate woman. How can you be so
dense?

The question that was originally posed was: Now that their lo-carb series
had aired, what did *you* think of their presentation. It would seem that
this simple request is lost in your need to denigrate someone...

L8r all,
DustyB
