Damn it, Dawn, you sound like a cultured literate woman. How can you be so
dense?

Well, you spell everything correctly, so I have to wonder why you keep
beating on this particular horse-scented stain on the sidewalk.

The question that was originally posed was: Now that their lo-carb series
had aired, what did *you* think of their presentation.

I haven't seen it. I don't watch Fox News programs anymore. I don't
believe in supporting Murdoch's platform or patronizing anything even
remotely connected to the likes of Bill O'Reilly.

It would seem that
this simple request is lost in your need to denigrate someone...

Not just "someone." Fox News Channel. Who are, in my opinion, quite
deserving of denigration.

I guess I just live for the opportunity to shine the light of truth, facts,
and knowledge into the "black-hole" of the liberal mind (such as it
is)...(:-)!

The question that was originally posed was: Now that their lo-carb series
had aired, what did *you* think of their presentation.

I haven't seen it. ...

You haven't seen it?

You haven't seen it!

Yet you are able to pontificate on how it was unfairly presented in a
slanted manner sans benefit of actually having seen that thing you bray
about most.

How incredibly juvenile and short-sighted! I'll bet you could get a job as
a book or movie reviewer. Then you could write the reviews simply by
reading what other reviewers say--kinda like another "ace" liberal
journalist, Jason Blair, writing for what I'm certain is to you the high
point in fairness, accuracy, and even-handedness: The New York Times!

You disappoint me, Dawn. And the saddest part, you wear your shortcomings
like a badge of honor...go figure...

believe in supporting Murdoch's platform or patronizing anything even
remotely connected to the likes of Bill O'Reilly.

I've found that many people who are as equally uninformed and ignorant share
your opinion.

Maybe you can get your liberal buds at PBS or CNN to put on a Karl Marx
clone. I'm sure you'd find his points of view more in line with your own
sense of "balance"...

....
Not just "someone." Fox News Channel. Who are, in my opinion, quite
deserving of denigration.

Yes. Coming from a world class student of mankind like yourself, I'm sure
it's the "straight truth" as well.

It truly pains me to see you in such an intellectual hole. As you so aptly
and correctly put it, "I have to wonder why you keep beating on this
particular horse-scented stain on the sidewalk." Please accept my apologies
for foolishly attempting to enlighten your day with facts, information, and
knowledge. Try to have a good day anyway...

By your leave gentle lady,

I haven't said anything at all about the specific piece. All of my
comments have been about the slanted nature of Fox News Channel as a
whole.

"Bray." Cute usage. I can see why you're a Fox News fan.

So sad. Such a waste of time and talent. Your mind's made up, and you have
nary a clue...and not likely to get one any time soon.

"Bray." Cute usage. I can see why you're a Fox News fan.

You like that? Thank you!

Now, please let me return the favor. How about the words, "I have an
original thought!" Can you say those? Probably not...which is why you're a
CNN/PBS fan. I'd say that it was a match made in heaven...and perfectly
implemented.

Given your remarks, I can see why you're a liberal...and, sadly, why
anything that a liberal touches goes down the drain. Don't believe me
(probably not since you're mind is already made up in advance)? List for me
any project, program, or undertaking that a liberal has imposed upon our
population that actually solved a problem (as opposed to the symptom). For
extra credit, name just ONE that was done for less cost than budgeted for...

Toodle-doo toots,
DustyB

No, but I'd love to. It's nice to see articulate, knowledgeable people
talk about politics with a sense of humor, rather than neo-con
carnival acts who just shout down anyone who disagrees with them and
make stuff up.

Dawn

You missed the joke, so I can see you've honed your humor appreciation
skills watching Franken and Garofolo standup. Carnival acts? Franken and
Davis distinguished themselves as the single unfunniest duo ever to bore
the stages of SNL. Rumor has it Franken has been out for revenge ever
since his college days when some pesky campus Republicans put sand in
his K-Y jelly. Notice that funny hitch in his gait? Garofolo's standup
routine obsesses around the entertainment industry's rejection of her
because of her big ass. If you get a chance, see the harridan's acridly
revealing interview on Carrie Fisher's show. Franken and Garofolo have
more in common than body type, they're both actuated by bitterness at
the paltriness of their primary careers and have finally found the
audience they deserve among America's like minded political malcontents.

You're working awfully hard to try and draw me into an argument with
you. I suppose I should be flattered by the attention but, frankly,
I'm baffled as to why this is so important to you.

I don't want to fight with you, Dusty. Not about politics and not
here. You can keep on name-calling and jabbing at me all you like ...
but I'm just not interested.

I will note that, as Al Franken's name was brought up in this thread,
it fits that he made a statement that describes your discussion style
perfectly: "Liberals, by nature, look for information and
conservatives look for ammunition."

Okay, I admit it -- I wasn't going to get drawn into this further, but
you're like some sort of a conservative straight man.

Here ya go. Joe Conason said this far better than I could have:

"If your workplace is safe; if your children go to school rather than
being forced into labor; if you are paid a living wage, including
overtime; if you enjoy a 40-hour week and you are allowed to join a
union to protect your rights -- you can thank liberals. If your food
is not poisoned and your water is drinkable -- you can thank liberals.
If your parents are eligible for Medicare and Social Security, so they
can grow old in dignity without bankrupting your family -- you can
thank liberals. If our rivers are getting cleaner and our air isn't
black with pollution; if our wilderness is protected and our
countryside is still green -- you can thank liberals. If people of all
races can share the same public facilities; if everyone has the right
to vote; if couples fall in love and marry regardless of race; if we
have finally begun to transcend a segregated society -- you can thank
liberals. Progressive innovations like those and so many others were
achieved by long, difficult struggles against entrenched power. What
defined conservatism, and conservatives, was their opposition to every
one of those advances. The country we know and love today was built by
those victories for liberalism -- with the support of the American
people."

Now ... NOW ... you can take your name-calling and your baiting and
you can stick it someplace very uncomfortable.

And perhaps we can get back to the whole low-carb support thing.

Dawn
(thank you for setting that up so I could knock it down for you)

Actually no, I don't want to get into an argument with you. First off, I
don't enjoy them, secondly an argument is a(n often heated) discussion in
which disagreement is discussed. We disagree, how else would you suggest
that we attempt to "come together" and resolve any errors or
misunderstandings? It's clear that there are errors, and that you will
avoid understanding at all costs--even your veracity.

You're entitled to that position, and I would defend your right to hold it.
However you are not entitled to dispense your opinion, as if it were fact,
without challenge.

As you so eloquently pointed out by example; you assert that Fox news is
slanted, gave an opinion piece that was not on topic as evidence, and turn
right around and admitted that you didn't see it (the "news" article)--and
won't, because it's slanted. How enlightened of you!

What could I possibly argue there? Your mind's made up, and facts have no
place in your mind--only feelings.

I don't want to fight with you, Dusty. Not about politics and not

Good! Let's keep it that way!

....
I will note that, as Al Franken's name was brought up in this thread,
it fits that he made a statement that describes your discussion style
perfectly: "Liberals, by nature, look for information and
conservatives look for ammunition."

First off, I didn't bring the names of either of those two losers into this
thread. But if this is the best description of our relative positions that
you can bring to bear, you should probably exhibit some measure of shame.

If liberals, "... look for information ...", then that juxtaposition missed
you. Because the information was there, you just couldn't be bothered to
look at it--your mind was already made up and didn't need to be confused by
facts.

And if conservatives, "... look for ammunition ...", I'd say you missed
there as well. Because it was you, dear lady, not *I* that fired that first
shot. *I* did not speciously assert that CNN was a liberally slanted
station, and that I wouldn't watch it as a matter of course--only a liberal
can get away with that.

As a matter of fact, I do watch CNN. And for my taste it is way liberally
biased. But *I* watch it just so that *I* can know and confirm for myself
what I already suspect--without having to take someone else's word for it.
*I* find out first hand, view all sides of an issue, then I make my lofty
pronouncements. Not the other way around.

Besides, a wise warrior always wants to know as much about his enemy as
possible. Sticking one's head in the sand results in lots of arrows in the
butt and sand stuck all over your tongue...

L8r my dear,
DustyB

How reasoned and noble of you...

Here ya go. Joe Conason said this far better than I could have:

Well, I had asked you for your thoughts, but if this is the best you got, I
guess it'll have to do.

"If your workplace is safe; if your children go to school rather than

.... snipped for brevity...but will be responded to "in kind" later...
one of those advances. The country we know and love today was built by
those victories for liberalism -- with the support of the American
people."

Well, I'll say one thing for ya, you musta snuck into one of our secret
right-wing cabal meetings and found out the whole thing. How could you
possibly have known that conservatives have a secret master plan that calls
for us to stomp flat every blade of grass, mine every usable mineral, kill
every creature, saw down every tree, bulldoze every mountain into a valley,
and pave over the whole damn thing. With any luck at all we'll be able to
pollute the air until birds will have to walk, and fill the water with such
foul detritus that not even a prion can live in it. All of this we want to
live in, and leave to our grandchildren... How did you do it?

....
And perhaps we can get back to the whole low-carb support thing.

That's why we're here...(:-)!
