Default Good carbs vs. bad carbs?

Sigh... I am more confused than before. I think I'll just by pass the
cashews all together for now. However, I truly do appreciate all the
feedback. This group is fantastic!

FYI, cashews aren't true nuts, and have more carb and less fiber than true
nuts.
per USDA, one ounce cashews, dry roasted: 9.26g carb, 0.8g fiber

Most nuts have roughly half their carbs as fiber (so do peanuts, although
they aren't true nuts, either). If the label says something like 6g
total carb, 3g fiber per serving, you can subtract the fiber.

Unfortunately, some labels do not follow the regulations properly, and
pre-subtract the fiber from the total, listing 3g total carb, 3g fiber.
This misleads newbies to believe they found miracle carb-free nuts.
