Default Fat and Flab Question

After a few hard months of low carbing, I have finally lost 5 lbs. I
have some questions for some of you that have lost 50 or more lbs.
Keep in mind, I am a middle age woman so that might affect your
advice:

Question: Did any of you actually see a body transformation when you
lost weight? For example, I have fat thighs and cellulite from my
knees up, I have a bulge in my stomach, a mid drift bulge and fat
upper arms. My butt is too big also. (These places are where my fat
is). When I was younger and much thinner, I did not have really bad
cellulite and it was mostly confined to the top of the thigh. If I
lose 50 lbs, will some of the cellulite go away or lessen? Will I
have unsightly flaps of skin on my body or will this tighten up? I
plan on doing exercise as well. I guess my question is can you really
transform your body (not just lose weight) if you are 45 or older? I
lost weight a few years ago and exercised. I could feel my muscles
tightening and toning but I didn't take the weight loss far enough and
I still had layers of fat covering the harder muscle. I am not asking
to look like a weight lifter or a pin up girl but just look decent on
the beach, lose weight and be able to wear a bathing suit without
feeling like a blimp!!!!

Default Fat and Flab Question

If you're over 45 and need to lose 50 lbs or more, worry about your health,
not how you look at the beach in a bathing suit. If you don't, you may not
be around to even consider going to the beach.

Default Fat and Flab Question

I started lc-ing 1/7/03 with about 75 lbs to lose. I have accomplished 35
of that. I weight train and do cardio 3 times a week. I am 52 yrs old.
So, yes, it can happen. My arms have gotten smaller (less hanging down). I
have less cellulite on my thighs. I still have stomach and midriff bulge
but smaller. It takes a while but the skin seems to be catching up. No, I
will never look like a pinup but I do feel comfortable with the way I look.

Keep working at it, it's good for you.

Default Fat and Flab Question

I'm 55 and have lost over 50 lbs since last June. During that time exercise
consisted mostly of brisk walking and a bit of light intensity rowing. Like
you, most of my weight was carried in my butt and thighs with lesser amounts
in my bust and arms. I still have about 15 lbs to go but have been pleased
that the flab is not worse than it is. My arms and bust are showing
relatively little sag compared to the way they were before I started this
diet. That isn't to say there isn't some. My stomach has some "droop" but
it seems to be receding. I haven't seen much if any reduction in cellulite
in my thighs. If anything the weight loss makes it more visible. Bottom
line is that your skin will probably adjust some but don't expect miracles.

Bumblebee,

Like you, I am a middle-aged woman (age 50, yikes!!!)although I never
classify myself that way. I went from 182 to 124 and hover around that
weight. YES, you can transform your body. At 182, I was a dumpy size
16. At 124, I am a slim size 6 or 8. I love it.

Age does have certain limitations. I live in Florida and I know that I
will never have the totally hard, flat, golden perfect body that I see
on some of the 18 year old kids that play volleyball at the beach. Too
many scars on my body for one thing! But that doesn't keep me from
trying to make my body better.

YOU CAN TRANSFORM YOUR APPEARANCE!! Proper nutrition in tandem with
exercise, exercise, exercise and (you guessed it) more exercise is the
key. Rememeber that it is a process. It isn't what you do one day or
even two, but what you do over time that is going to make the
difference.

There's no reason you can't be strolling the beach this summer!

Default Fat and Flab Question

I've lost almost 30 lbs and am age 50- I haven't turned into a bag of flab.
I'm amused to see my curves coming back-in another life time I was 36-24-36.
I actually felt hip bones protruding when I was laying down this morning.
I stay busy, could definitely be working out more instead of sitting at the
computer, but it is worth it! I have a few more lines in my face, but if I
had a stroke or died, who would notice. I may still be big, but boy do I
feel sexy.

My thrill this week wasn't on the scale, but the blood pressure monitor. I
feel great. What I see in the mirror is a bonus.

Take your supplements and drink your water. Get some exercise You will be
beautiful from the inside to the outside first. The first thing to show will
be your new attitude.

interesting in the cellulite. I was watching extreme make over and they said
liposuction does make cellulite worse.
