Default Century mark!

I hit it today! I've lost 100 pounds in exactly seven months.

I will post a separate thread over the weekend on my plans for losing
the next 50 pounds. I'm recovering from wrist surgery and am only
supposed to use the computer for 45 minutes at a time. I'm typing with
one hand.

In the meantime, join me in doing the happy nekkid century dance!

As always, YM (and dance) MV.

What was your basic diet program?

Please give the details on how you did this with

diet and how much exercise and what kind?

I am doing this under the supervision of my primary care physician, a
nutritionist and a psychotherapist. I suspect that people get annoyed
when I post repeatedly that one needs to consult medical professionals
before and during a major change in WOE, but this is all about health.
Like many middle-aged people, I have myriad health problems, not all
caused or aggravated by my weight.

My program, selected and directed by the nutritionist, is 1,500
calories a day. I use fitday.com obsessively, and can document
everything I've eaten since Oct. 13.

The 1,500 figure is an average. With the occasional social event at
which I eat more, I have no more than 2,000, and reduce calories the
rest of the week by 200 or so a day.

Exercise has been difficult. In the beginning, I couldn't walk much
because my arthritis was aggravated by my being supermorbidly obese.
Once I lost about 10 percent of my total weight, I became more
ambulatory. I started (and still do) parking at the far end of lots
when I drove. I took short walks around my neighborhood.

Once I got below 300 pounds, I started taking the stairs instead of
the elevator when it was safe. (I live in a decaying mid-Atlantic
metropolis, and using public stairwells is not always prudent.) I took
longer walks around my neighborhood. I began walking around a
reservoir that has foot and bike paths. It's 1.125 miles around.

I'm now walking twice around the lake most days, although very slowly.
Despite my weight loss, arthritis in my hips and knees make it
difficult to walk faster.

As always, YMMV.
