what's your Thanksgiving-day menu?
Mock mashed potatoes, using cauliflower, cream, salt and pepper.
Also, green bean casserole isn't too high in carbs. And for desert, a low carb cheese cake. Ok now I am hungry.... "Diem Sellers" wrote in message om... it's almost that time of year. anyone got any good ideas? thanks, ds |

what's your Thanksgiving-day menu?
Turkey , Mashed Cauliflower, Broccoli, Green Beans, Crisp Green Salad, Mashed Turnips if they aren't too high a carb count. LC Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert Or perhaps Strawberries with Real whip cream. It's one meal - it's not going to set me back - if I gain a pound or two, the extra weight will be gone in a day or two. Not enjoying the feast with my family would be more detrimental to me than cheating on my diet for one meal would be. Day after TG, I'm back on LC and will be back in ketosis by late Saturday or Sunday. Lee I agree with this, too, except that I try to avoid high carb foods as much as possible. So, if there's stuffing, I'll take a small amount. Pie I try to avoid (I don't like it anyway). -- Bob M in CT Remove 'x.' to reply |

what's your Thanksgiving-day menu?
That's what killed my 57 pound loss almost exactly two years ago.. I decided
I'd eat what I want at the holidays.. part of it was being depressed at not getting to see my family.. but of course I knew I could just get right back on the wagon and lose whatever I gained.. only thing is, I didn't. I am just now getting back into it after gaining back a huge chunk of what I had lost.. I am back down 22 pounds now. I sometimes cheat on the weekends if we go out to dinner but for some reasons the holidays can really screw it up for me. I don't have any problem getting back on track after a minor weekend cheat.. I don't know why it would be any different though.. why I couldn't do that after the holidays. We are going to visit my family at christmas so maybe it will be easier this year. We will be at my sister's and she's already told me she will help me cook whatever I want to fix but I know there will be plenty of the bad stuff too. I just feel more able to deal with it this time around. Teeb "Lee" wrote in message om... what's your Thanksgiving-day menu?
Thanksgiving menu (so far):
Roast Turkey -- I make an herb butter by putting handfuls of fresh herbs from the garden, butter, most of a head of garlic & salt & butter through the food processor & then moosh it around under the skin of the turkey. Green salad -- From the time I was a small child, we had salad with dinner every night & NO meal is complete without a salad. Mashed potatos -- lowfat, low carb, doesn't matter what diet anyone is on, if I don't make my mashed potatos which I make with roasted garlic, fresh parsley, a little sour cream and gobs and gobs of butter, there will be a riot. I will of course ATTEMPT to use self control & eat no more than a tablespoon of this fattening heaven on a plate. My Dad will bring his famous creamed spinach -- and a little bowl for me with no roux -- YUM! My step Mom is making her fabulous chopped liver, with crackers for those who eat them & celery for everyone else. Deviled eggs -- just had another idea, chopped liver stufffed hardboiled eggs, hmmm....have to think about that one some more. Steamed brocolli w/cheese sauce -- my son's favorite veggie. Oven roasted mixed veggies -- sweet potatos, string beans, onion and carrots tossed in olive oil and spices and roasted. Pepperige Farm stuffing made w/onions, carrots and celery -- cooked in a dish, not in the turkey. Cheesecake, apple & pumpkin pies --no AS because I don't use them. We use honey in the cheesecake, but bake it with nuts instead of crust. And very little sugar in the pies becuase that is the way that we prefer to eat them. And serve the pie with either homemade vanilla ice cream or whiiped cream made with sugar so that those who prefer their desserts sweeter can add topping to taste. I am sure we will add to the menu between now & thenRobyn |

I LOVE this stuff, I thought it must be highcarb . . . how many carbs in a serving of this if you follow the recipe on a can of Cambell's Cream of Mushroom Soup? I don't have a can with me right now . . .. And for desert, a low carb cheese cake. Ok now I am hungry....
