Default I quit smoking and the scales are going the wrong way!

Help! Last month a managed to loose a whopping 8 lbs on the monthly
challange board. Then on March first, after smoking for over 20 years
I quit, Yipee!. I'm so glad a finally did it, and I plegde to myself
that I'll never go back.
But now the scales are going the wrong way! I ended the month at 168.
Jumped immediately back to 170 at the first of the month and was
horrified to see that I've gained another two pounds this morning.
Up until yesterday I've been keeping quite busy, I had a biopsy for a
breast tumor yesterday so I don't feel much like dancing at the
moment. Any one got any suggestions as to how I can get things under
control again? I could really use some encouragement at this time.

Quit eating so much.

Most of us probably aren't in danger of eating too little.

Hi Flower Lady,
I haven't been on Atkins that long, but I wanted to encourage you anyway.
Whatever you do DON'T go back to smoking.
I'll say a prayer for your biopsy results :-)

Thanks for all the helpful advice.
Well putting down the fork earlier would probably help.I guess it's
just depressing to see all the effort heading in the wrong direction.
But the long run results of quitting smoking will be the pay off.
Guess I'm just bummed out too much about this biopsy thing and was
hopeing my scales would cheer me up.
I am the last of my friends and family to quit smoking so it should be
alot easier this time to stay smokefree. Noi to mention the scare of
this tumor!!!
I was so sore and tired yesterday I almost caved in to some KFC!! Now
that is serious. But I read what you guys have been writing and
realized I'm not as alone as I thought.
You guys are great! Thanks to all for the support!

Your metabolism probably slowed a bit due to the lack of constant
nicotine. Also the cilia and flora of your gut are coming back so it
makes your digestion more efficient at processing what you eat. You'll
gain weight. Be OK with that and get the smoking issue taken care of
then worry about losing again. Eat less than you were and start
exercising more is about all that can stop the scale from moving up.
