195 YALL!!!
go me

Got up this morning, weighed and the scale said 195!!

If I can manage to get through next weekends BBQ cook-off without too
much BBQ and beer I will be on my way down further. I am already
worrying about what I will eat/drink during the cook-off. Not to mention
what to wear! It's a 2 day ordeal with tons of lifelong friends and
family (whole damn town and then some). Fortunately there will be ALOT
of meat and not too many tempting side dishes for me to graze from. I
think I will be extra careful this week so I can call the BBQ cook-off a
"refeed". Do others plan for events like this?

Sure -- all the time. I've been dieting for 21 months now, and have
included a whole bunch of special meals and events into my lifestyle.
Perhaps I'd lose faster if I never did this, but I don't care -- this
is the way I'll eat for life, and I've not been in any hurry.

I've just come from eating lunch out with DH, where we split a warm
chocolate waffle w/ ice cream for dessert. This is my treat lunch
after I give blood, in lieu of the cookies and juice they give out
:-).

And tonight I'm pouring wine at a charity event at the German embassy,
where there will no doubt be goodies to nibble.

Thank you very much, 200 was/is such a struggle for me for some reason,
has been for 3 months now. I don't know if it was the mental part of 200
or the physical part that is/was worst. All I know is it is behind me,
and I broke a very tough stall, and now I can focus on another mini goal
like 185

195 wow that's great. You are well over half way there. I would take
some fruit in my bag to nibble on when the temptations are to strong.
I usually carry a snack with me at all times, for that just in case
moment. It has certainly helped me stay away from the high fat / high
calorie alternatives. As to the beer, could you drink your water
first, or alternate 1 water 1 beer. Keep up the great work.

Is it German wine you'll be pouring? I'm just curious. The German's aren't all

I will be pouring German wines, though there will also be tables with
Virginia wines and California wines. (This is a wine tasting and
auction, put on by Rotary International, to raise money to purchase a
new emergency rescue vehicle for the District of Columbia. One of my
wine clubs is providing volunteer pourers.)

German wines have been much appreciated for centuries, but until
recently (a) this was more the sweeter style of rieslings -- not
always too much to American taste and not too compatible with most
foods, and (b) there was much more awareness in Europe than in
America. The Germans are now making some excellent dry whites --
rieslings and other grapes -- as well as some pretty decent reds,
e.g., spatburgunders and dornfelders. It can still be hard to get
good German wines in the US. We have a pretty good selection here in
the DC area, and, through a couple of the wine clubs, are also able to
sometimes buy directly from importers. (I also had an opportunity to
attend a 5-day wine seminar in Germany a couple of years ago, where I
really added to my knowledge of the great wines Germany offers.)

Many people -- including me :-) -- love the traditional rieslings
also. Some of the higher end wines with more concentrated sugars can
sell for hundreds of dollars. Trockenbeerenausleses (TBAs, for short)
are among the most prized dessert wines in the world. I'm hoping
we'll have a few tonight!

If I know ahead of time I'm going to be feasting, I will adjust my calorie
intake to make up for it. If it's a weekend of camping or vacationing where
I know that I'm going to be eating without much discretion, I'll at least
try to walk alot more, and I'll eat less before and after.

I love BBQ!!!
