I like all of this except the bedtime part, didn't work out, in fact
was
quite ugly, involved waking up eating something, standing in the
kitchen,
was very scary, Lee

I always eat something before bed. When I have room, I use 4 points
about 9:00. So far (knock wood), it doesn't seem to have slowed me
down. I don't like being hungry in the middle of the night. :/

Last night I did the Oprah thing and made a big mug of herbal mint tea
at 9 p.m. It worked. As a creature of habit I thought about the food I
could get to eat but instead I let myself have nothing more than the
tea. When we dine out I usually have decaf coffee or herbal tea and it
seems to be a good ending to the meal so I plan to do this more often at
home.

I have been stopping eating after 6 because we go to bed early around

here.
- The other big rule: You must stop eating three hours before bedtime.
Do just this [Oprah doesn't eat ANYthing after 7:30 pm], and you'll
lose weight.

I work 12 hour shifts. If I eat a breakfast bar on my way to work, or a
fruit salad once I'm there, that's breakfast. I actually am supposed to get
a lunch break -- sometimes that can't be managed. But dinner? No way! So
I eat when I get home, between 8 and 8:30 PM, and try to be in bed by 9:30.
I can't figure out a way around that one. And usually I'm tired, hungry and
too burnt out to make choices. A bad combination!

You really do need to eat at more regular intervals and don't forget to
drink water. What type of job do you have that doesn't give you time for
two meal breaks in a 12 hour period? That seems a little excessive to me.

I'm a critical care nurse. It's a little difficult to tell my patient who
just wheeled in out of the OR from his open heart surgery "You'll have to
wait -- it's time for my afternoon snack!" Or "Oh, no! you can't have
chest pain NOW! It's been four hours since my last meal break and I need to
eat!" Since we can't eat or drink anywhere except the break room, and since
we cannot leave our patients even for a bathroom break without another nurse
watching . . . I'm lucky to get ONE meal break -- and don't always. Water
is a little easier -- I always have a bottle in my bag and can sneak a drink
from time to time. But meals are a real problem!

Oh, now I understand. That makes more sense. Well I wish you luck because
that is a tough one.

I did 12's when I worked in the hospital, would carry a power bar or two in
my scrubs and eat it in the bathroom, when I got a chance to go. That helped
with being famished when I got home. Then I usually ate a meal on the way to
work.

That's the one I've been working on. I hate the idea of wasting points on
power bars, when I don't even LIKE them. Now if it were Hershey bars . . .

Actually I don't eat the brand power bar either, I used to eat Kashi go lean
bars which are quite good. Or granola bars. I am no longer working 12's
