LC eating will make you fat article suggests
I checked the google archives, and didn't see that this Web MD article
has been posted before, but I might have missed it. This article is titled "Will Low-Carb Diets Untimately Make Us Fat?" http://my.webmd.com/content/Article/92/101785.htm I'm new to LCing, but it seems to me that there are a number of inaccuracies about LCing in the article, and I'd appreciate a critique of the article by more knowledgable posters. Quoting one critic of low carbing: " 'In the long term, there is no question that low-carb diets will be shown to be dangerous,' he says, noting that hundreds of epidemiological studies around the world have demonstrated that high-carbohydrate foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains reduce risk of heart disease and prevent cancer." Does any LC eating plan keep one from eating vegetables and fruits? And is it only the high carb veggies that reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer? SB also allows whole grains, so what's this guy's gripe? (I'm not familiar with whether other LC diets allow whole grains. Do they?) Seems to me that much of the criticism of LCing in the article has to do with the new lc products coming out now. So how does that make LC with naturally LC foods dangerous? Diet bashing, especially low carb types, is as common and dirty as is
political bashing of liberals by conservatives. Conservatives, and "low fat" believers want things as they are and have been. No changes..... Therefore all this new sounding stuff is automatically bad. [liberal proposals, or "low carb" eating - which disturbs the normal food industry of the USA. LC eating will make you fat article suggests
People says on this forum that if you eat under 100g of carbs per day, then
you're eating low carb. I am sure there's some reason behind this limit but I have no idea where to find it. Whole grain or no whole grain on this 100g, it's your call. To say that veg are high carbs is nonsense. Take broccoli, famous for its antioxidant effects and said to lower chances of getting cancer, you wonder how many grams of carbs are there in a 1 cup? 3.54 g net carb (total carb - fibre) If this is "high carb", what do you call, say chocolate rice pudding? "Skyscrapper carb"? The article is right about the sweeteners though.
