I thought that Louise had a good point about discussing trigger foods. I
have blocked most of the posters in that other thread and really do not wish
to even accidentally read their comments so I thought if I started a new
thread we might discuss this issue:

do you have trigger foods?

Do you have trigger situations?

Do you have trigger moods?

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

In the effort of full discloser, I get stressed, depressed and I do not eat
at all, just as bad for a binge but different behavior that ill affects good
health and weight loss hopes,

Lee

do you have trigger foods?

sometimes there are foods that are unwise for me to eat unless I am in a
good place with my program. I keep pretty much all of them in my house
though because of the other people here. I don't eat them 99% of the time.
Usually when I do it is in very small quantities. Once in a blue moon I
still overeat for a meal, or even a day.

Do you have trigger situations?

Not really, if something is going on, I am aware and watching for it....

Do you have trigger moods?

Same as situations. I know if I am in a mood I need to go do something.

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

Can't say when I last did anything I would call a binge.

Alcohol can stimulate my appetite and make me want to eat too much.
Sometimes nuts can be a trigger food as can potato chips.

Not really.

Do you have trigger situations?

Yes. Certain stressful situations do trigger me to want to eat, but now I
know enough to be able to identify the difference between real and
situational hunger.

Do you have trigger moods?

Not really.

I don't really binge anymore. I plan "splurges" when I've got something
coming up or I get a craving for something rather calorie dense. Tuesdays
are usually a day DH and I will have something we don't eat often like pizza
or I let myself use flex points if I'm particularly hungry. If I find
myself more hungry than usual, like if I've used my daily points and
activity points and still want to eat, I grab a bowl of zero point soup or a
sugar free popsicle and go to bed early if necessary.

Alcohol can also lower the resolve - it used to give me a "what the heck"
attitude.

Bread! If bread eating was an Olympic sport, Scotland would take gold
with me every time! Used to be chocolate and cookies, but now it's
usually just bread. Most of the time I'm OK, but if the other factors
kick in...

Do you have trigger situations?

When the stress and the hormones coincide...

Do you have trigger moods?

Hormonally and/or fribro induced depression! UGH!

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

Hormones, fibro flare and depression together can get to me, yes. When
they all gang up at once is when I tend to hit the bread bin. Not sure
I'd exactly call 2-3 slices a full blown binge...

In the effort of full discloser, I get stressed, depressed and I do not eat

Ha! Yes, when the pain really hits hard I can live on tea and pain
killers for days on end. does me no good in the long run, so I try to
keep moving and eating if possible.

Sweets and salty foods.

Do you have trigger situations?

Mostly when I'm bored or sitting watching tv. Recently have
taken up knitting again while watching tv. It's helping to keep
me out of the fridge and cupboards.

Do you have trigger moods?

Absolutely. When I'm down about something or grumpy/mad, then
I find that it is more likely that I'll head off to the kitchen. I've been
trying to avoid situations like these lately and so far it seems to be
making a difference.

Yep, boredom and my mood together - watch out kitchen!
