I thought that Louise had a good point about discussing trigger foods. I
have blocked most of the posters in that other thread and really do not
wish
to even accidentally read their comments so I thought if I started a new
thread we might discuss this issue:

do you have trigger foods?

Salty stuff.. chips crackers,... mmmm

Do you have trigger situations?

In social situation when I feel out of place. Some parties I've gone to,
I've felt like it was "my world" at those I tend to stay by the food..

Do you have trigger moods?

Stress, frustration.. Mainly though it's when I'm tired that I lose control.

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

It doesn't help.. if I'm tired and have a bowl of chips in front of me it's
gonna be bad.. ;op

In the effort of full discloser, I get stressed, depressed and I do not
eat
at all, just as bad for a binge but different behavior that ill affects
good
health and weight loss hopes,

Lee

Some people have mentionned alcohol, I don't drink alcohol, and when I did I
didn't have a weight problem.. I get hyper when I'm tipsy.

Bread! If bread eating was an Olympic sport, Scotland would take gold
with me every time! Used to be chocolate and cookies, but now it's
usually just bread. Most of the time I'm OK, but if the other factors

Hormonally and/or fribro induced depression! UGH!

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

Hormones, fibro flare and depression together can get to me, yes.
When they all gang up at once is when I tend to hit the bread bin.
Not sure I'd exactly call 2-3 slices a full blown binge...

Ha! Yes, when the pain really hits hard I can live on tea and pain
killers for days on end. does me no good in the long run, so I try to
keep moving and eating if possible.

A friend opened up a franchise of Great Harvest Bakery a few years ago.
That was before my decision to lose my excess thirty pounds. Anyway the
bread is TDF and what's worse is they always gave out free samples.
Everything tasted so good.
My solution...I haven't been there in more than a year. I cannot handle
wonderful bread. At home I have decent bread, the Sara Lee delightful
wheat, low pt. bagels and rolls. I told my friend my problem and I
think she understands although she is also a model and has never had a
weight problem.

It is the same for me and the wonderful French bakery in town. I do not
go there unless I am picking up a birthday cake I have ordered over the
phone. The phone order saves one trip of temptations.

Yes.
The worst trigger food is cheese, but also chocolate to some degree,
and alsohol.
Any kind of stress doesn't help. I'm nowhere hear as bad as I used to
be but I still go to bed with a glass of wine and a cookie and a film
when I'm stressed.

I rarely binge any more. I usually stop myself before that happens.
But I can drink half a bottle of wine and a pack of cookies easily.

except sometimes just talking about it is enough to give me Bad Thoughts :-)

do you have trigger foods?

chocolate, baked goods, but can be chips or alcohol either, I'm versatile

Do you have trigger situations?

frustration, tiredness, annoyance with one of my children in particular who
is very compulsive about food, I get fed up with her eating all "my" treats
and I try to retrieve one or two. Bad plan, I just don't buy that stuff now
because while I have some control, DD (who is Intellectually Disabled) has
none whatever

Do you have trigger moods?

as above

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

time was it wouldn't take much at all. And even if things would go well
there was always the glass of wine at bedtime as a "reward"

Food can become this very vampiric friend. Sad: eat, happy:eat, tired:eat,
upset because you've gained weight:eat etc
Some people seem to be more vulnerable than others that way. Knowing
yourself can help but too much of an iron self control can back fire and you
end up rebelling_against your own better judgement.
I guess I need to get a life :-)
Louise

What is positive about reading your post is that you have identified
everything, and knowing what you do allows you the ability to control, Lee

Sweets and salty foods.

Do you have trigger situations?

Mostly when I'm bored or sitting watching tv. Recently have
taken up knitting again while watching tv. It's helping to keep
me out of the fridge and cupboards.

Do you have trigger moods?

Absolutely. When I'm down about something or grumpy/mad, then
I find that it is more likely that I'll head off to the kitchen. I've

been
trying to avoid situations like these lately and so far it seems to be
making a difference.

Does it take a combination of the above to make you binge?

Yep, boredom and my mood together - watch out kitchen!

I find that I over eat at parties in all situations, either I am out of
place and nervous or am having such a good time I am not paying good
attention, Lee
