Dateline diet challenge - What a fraud
I can't believe I sat through listening to an hour of rehashed BS only
to see Dateline change the rules at the end of the contest to declare the marathon lady the winner. The Atkins dude lost 108 lbs, she lost 35, yet they proceeded to declare her the winner. What a fraud, but it doesn't surprise me. This was supposed to be a diet challenge, not an athletic event. They could give her an award for most effort, but the winner of the diet challenge was the Atkins dude! |

Not that she didn't do well, not that she didn't work hard and not that her accomplishment should not have been applauded .... but the media is never going to say Atkins is the 'winner' diet. Exactly!
Did I get confused in the beginning or is the Atkins dieter also the one who was drinking the 14 to 16 cans of beer per night? jo nj "Jarkat2002" wrote in message ... I found that interesting also. Dateline diet challenge - What a fraud
Well, the Atkins guy did lose the most weight by far.
However, what got me was how the guy didn't seem confident that he could keep the weight off. To me, that was much more damming than Dateline giving the lady the award for finishing the marathon. Actually, I think their doing that was kind of sexist -- her doing something like a marathon was more than they could deal with -- apparently -- as if a lady like her can't do something like that. Did you see the Atkins guy playing soccer -- falling and spinning? I'm surprised he didn't break something. Also, the notion of the lady attempting to lose weight by primarily relying on exercise (and running at that!) was a big mistake, imo, and it ended up with her getting hurt. I bet they gave her the award to fend of a possible lawsuit. I was kind of disappointed, but I can also acknowledge that what she did was a LOT more difficult than doing Atkins! At least they got it right and called it "low-carb - high-fat". I had seen the little on-line blurb and they called it a "no-carb" diet. And you KNOW that guy isn't going to stay on it, he wants his beer too badly!! The Weight Watchers lady was obviously working out at Curves too. They could
have put ONE word in for them, but didn't. |

However, what got me was how the guy didn't seem confident that he could
keep the weight off. I didn't take him that way at all. I took him as saying .. this is my life so far ... what is next I don't know ... I like what I have done and it looks like I'm going to keep it up. He seemed the most realistic to me. ~Kat "I think I would like to call myself 'the girl who wanted to be God'.
