well on my way to a real stall
Well. My low-carb diet had got off to great start, as I lost upwards of 20lbs in about the first seven weeks. For almost two weeks now, though, I've been stuck at 216. And unlike some folks claiming to see the inches melt off, while the scale doesn't budge, I haven't noticed much measurement change in that time either. I'm starting to think about what to change if this mini-stall continues for another couple of weeks. I don't know that I can fit in more exercise, but that's an obvious place to start. At the moment I am doing weights and cardio twice weekly at the gym and once weekly at home. I think I am going to have to try to fit in at least a short cardio workout at home on the off-days as well, if only to burn more calories. I work long hours but I think I just have to squeeze it in. (Maybe less time on USENET, haha.) I *love* weight training - I wish I could do more of that instead of more cardio - but I'm not sure that weight training every day is such a good idea. The other piece of the puzzle, of course, is food. My BMR is about 1750 Calories and I have been averaging about that much each day. I am looking carefully at my FitDay records and planning to cut out about 100 Calories each day. That's not too much - it shouldn't be too painful to do - and maybe that plus a little additional cardio will nip this stall in the bud. I've got a long ways to go - on the order of another 50 lbs - so I can afford to be patient. But patience doesn't come naturally to me. I want to *do* something. carla |

This is the most rational post I've read in a long time.

well on my way to a real stall
Hey Carla,
We can teeter totter! same time on Low carb, I'm at 214, and also stalled. Seems like we are battling the exercise vs. work routines. and wonder how long to sit at this computer reading these posts! lol-- my measurements are a little bigger this morning arrrr, but after a big bowl of salted pork rinds, not surprised. hang in there- lets see who steps down first. I'm realistically aiming for the 200 mark by May Diane "carla" wrote in message ... Well. My low-carb diet had got off to great start, as I lost upwards of 20lbs in about the first seven weeks. "Luna" wrote in message ... In article , Sounds like a good plan. I don't know what your typical menu is, but the easiest way I've found to cut down on calories is to replace one meal a day with a large salad with some lean protein in it like grilled chicken or shrimp. I usually use ranch dressing, but you can vary it with different dressings and different salad veggies to keep it from being boring. Great suggestion, Luna. As it happens, this is already what I eat for lunch most days. My office cafeteria serves pretty good hot entrees and soups but they are almost never low carb friendly. I like hot lunches when it is cold outside, but I rarely have them this year unless they are serving "slab o' meat" which I can just add to a salad. Otherwise, I hit the salad bar and put eggs, chicken, tuna, or a little hummus as the protein component. I don't care for ranch dressing (or most other kinds of dressing) but a tablespoon each of olive oil and vinegar does the job for me. At dinner at the cafeteria, life is a little more touch & go. Dinner is usually a slab o' meat, but sometimes it's pork, which I can't eat, or some breaded thing, which I don't want to fight with to peel the breading off. Fortunately they have prepackaged Greek and Caesar salads available for those rough evenings. carla |

The scale budged downward a pound yesterday, and it stuck this morning, so I'm hoping that the time-honored strategy of breaking a stall by complaining about it on ASDLC has worked for me. :-) carla |

Well, thanks - I do think I allow myself a little "fat ****" thinking from time to time, so it's nice to know I kept it out of the post. For me, things work best when I am systematic about them (diet things and other things) so coming up with a plan and committing it to writing may be the best way to fight off thinking like the fat **** I am. :-) carla |

Glad you saw a loss! I may have but recalibrated my scale and really messed
up my records, and my head-of course The balance scale records heavier now which isn't fun,but those weights don't change.I'll deal with it and take it out on the treadmill I had a teeter totter phobia way back to the school yard days-I was the heaviest one in the class and it was the one way the classmates could know you weighed more than they did. I'd leave my hubby flying high right now, lol And probably surprised since I will never let him see me weigh myself-who am I kidding. sounds like a new conversation-weight liars and myths Diane "carla" wrote in message ...
