Default Is anyone out there doing Weight Watchers AND Low carb

Hi,
I am and I just wanted to know if anyone else is. Yes, it is hard and no
one at my WW meetings knows that I am. I keep it quiet because of all the
rabid anti low carb talk. I like the WW diet but it is just too carby. I
imagine that when I reach goal and I can add more carbs in, that WW will be
perfect for my maintenance. I am a person that cannot eat carbs or I will
eat them to excess. So far I am .40 from reaching my first 10% goal. I
just wish they would get on the bandwagon like everybody else and offer a
low carb version of WW. They offer a higher protein lower carb eating plan,
but it is still too many carbs. But the weekly meetings keep me honest with
my weight loss efforts.

Gwen, I have a friend who did that. She did low carb for weight loss but
attended WW meetings for the support and such. She did well with it!

I do my own version of WW and SBD. I keep the "bad carbs" low, and allow
myself very satisfying low glycemic carbs, such as lentils, beans, lots of
veggies. that would not be considered "legal" in true atkins style, but
help keep me from being bored and keep my variety high. I also keep high
sat/fats to a minimum

I dont count carbs, per se, but try my best to avoid sugar, white flour,
potatos, pasta, white rice. I go to WW meetings, and also the ww messages
boards and website. Lots of good people there, and quite a few who watch
types of carbs. There is even a SBD thread floating around there..

WW is a set of suggested guidelines, not the Gestapo of weight loss. If you
feel you need the accountability of meetings, as I do, then go, enjoy the
support, and tailor carve out your own plan for life. I have found, in
almost 2 years of life changing,. the more I make it my own, the better
chance I have of truly making it a lifestyle

Since August of 2002 I have lost about 150 pounds!

My SO lost 65 pounds on WW, and has been on maintenance for 3 years. It seems
that a lot of the really deathly high-carb items are also high in WW points.
Now that I'm eating low-carb, our diets are more similar than they've ever
been. He eats a lot of salads, avoids pasta (which he considers wasted points)
and sugar (ditto), and eats a fair amount of protein.

The main difference, in fact, is that he worries about the portion size of his
meat entrees and I don't. I would agree with the poster who said that WW
provides guidelines rather than rigid rules. You've got your daily (or weekly
) points total, and you can decide how to spend those points. If you're eating
low-carb, you're certainly not wasting them on junk food.
