Five Alarm Milestone Report!!! (^_^)
Thanks for the encouragement Doug! I need to get under that 300 lbs barrier
and not EVER let myself get near it again!......I hope you are still a member of this group when I reach my 100kg barrier! It will be great to reminisce with you about this post eh? LOL!!! Thanks again~! You're an inspiration to me! Eddie "Doug Lerner" wrote in message ... Hi, Eddie. I know you can do it. You are at 306 lb right now, right? I haven't talked about this point so much, but back in 1998, before I started another diet (from which I rebounded - a constant fear for the future) I actually had my all-time peak weight of 304 lb! Seeing the scale go over 300 lb was a life-altering experience. I never rebounded to THAT level again. At any rate, I was where you are now and now I am under 100 kg, and I am a 49 year old basically sedentary male. If I can get under 100 kg literally ANYBODY can, I am 100% convinced of that! doug On 1/8/06 1:15 AM, in article , "Eddie-Type2" wrote: Absolutely wonderful Doug!!! You should be proud of yourself!!!! I hope I can realize that 100kg hurdle, but I think realistically it won't be until around Christmas this year!....good for you! Yay! Yatta! It has finally come! Yes - I have a long way to go yet, but as far as I'm concerned it is all downhill from here and the rest can take as long as is needed. This is the day I've been waiting for, the day I've been hoping for, since starting my diet on June 3 - 218 days ago. As you can probably tell, I'm extremely happy today! And I greatly, greatly appreciate all the supportive messages people take the time to post for me. This online support group has definitely made all the difference. Check this out: http://lerner.net/diet/InThe90s.jpg (^_^) The vital stats: * Day 218, Week 31 + 1 day * Weight (kg): 125.0 - 99.8 (minus 25.2 kg) * Milestone! Finally broke the 100 kg barrier! I'm into two-digits! * Milestone! Lost more than 25 kg! * Weight (lb): 275.0 - 219.6 (minus 55.4 lb) * Milestone! Under 220 lb! * BMI: 41.3 - 33.0 * Percent lost: 20.2% * Milestone! Lost more than 20% of my body mass! * Percent complete to goal: 55% Here is a summary of my diet method, for reference: * I figured my "goal weight needed calories" per week. Then I deducted 1,000 calories from the total and put them aside for a bonus and divided the difference by 7. This gave me 1700 calories per day plus a weekly bonus of 1000 calories for flexibility. Having a bonus helps relieve the stress of facing a fixed, rigid daily limit. * I do daily exercise on my stationary bike. I deduct those displayed calories from my daily total, which is an incentive to do regular exercise. * At the end of the week, if there is anything left over from my 1700*7 nominal calorie limit I roll it over to the next week. This adds just a little more "fun flexibility" to the diet, so some weeks I can eat a little more without going off the plan. doug@onward to goal! |

I'll be here!
I think that obese people, like me, who lose weight always need to diet. We probably have something in common with alcoholics. doug On 1/10/06 1:14 AM, in article , "Eddie-Type2" wrote: Thanks for the encouragement Doug! Not only that but you can give up alcohol, you can't give up food. While there may be some people addicted to every type of food out there they are rare if they exist. Folks tend to be addicted to a specific type of food because of an intolerance or a class of food because of a hormone issue. Figure out what you need to avoid and that will still leave a vast array of choices nearly every time. Food intolerance addictions can take a system that does elimination and challenge. There are several such systems available - Texas Elimination diet, Atkins and others. If you find out that you react to corn like an wino reacts to wine, you would know how to resolve the physical drivers of your addiction. Complete avoid corn and corn products and control happens. It would take a bit of practice but it doesn't end up difficult. The difficult part is admitting the addiction and commiting to avoiding the cause. Hormone issues are like having a big reaction to high fat or high carb foods triggering a binge. Discover such an issue and you'd need to eliminate all foods above some fat or carb content. The difficult parts are telling it from problems with specific foods and the fact that the foods that are the highest in either fat or carbs are the most tempting foods. |
