Food & Exercise -- 5/11/2007
Usual Friday morning of gym visit followed by grocery store stop. In
the evening DH and I went to an event at the German Embassy sponsored by the German Wine Society -- the annual Spargelfest dinner. Spargel is the German word for asparagus, and it's traditional in Germany to celebrate the asparagus season -- particularly white asparagus -- with festivals. Food: * 7:00 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter & flax seed * 1:30 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices f/f cheese & grated French hard cheese * 3:00 (home): 1 square from dark chocolate & almond bar * 7:30 (Spargelfest dinner): 2 1/2 glasses wine; white & green asparagus, served cold with a vinaigrette & hot with hollandaise; thinly-sliced Westphalian ham; roast potatoes; chicken fricasee; black bread; smoked salmon; rote greuze (red berry compote) w/ vanilla sauce; apple strudel w/ whipped cream {Didn't eat too much of any one thing except maybe the asparagus, but it was still a fair bit of food.} Exercise: * 10:00: Lifting: walking lunges w/ bar on back; stiff-legged deadlifts; leg extensions; prone leg curls; calf extensions; hip adductor; hip abductor * 11:00: 75-minute power vinyasa yoga class {More strenuous than usual -- different instructor was substituting.} Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 |
