I'm in SHAPE magazine this month
Hi, everyone. I was very excited about an upcoming success story SHAPE
magazine was to run on me this month (the photo shoot was in March), but was sorely disappointed in the outcome. The success story my interviewer, Tajinder, wrote for me, was a fabrication in its entirety. If you wish to check it out, please click here --- http://sugarfreesheila.com/SHAPESuccessStory.html The photo upload is not quite finished, so there may be a bunch of "invisible boxes" - just click on the largest one to view, as it's a thumbnail of the article. Everything will be visible in a few hours! Sheila Size 10 to 2 in 5 months (since 2001), thanks to Atkins! http://www.SugarFreeSheila.com - My Success Story, Extensive FAQ, & More! |

If they used your name, get a lawyer. It sounds like defamation to me.

Well, that just stinks.

The interviewer must consider Atkins a "fad" diet. Tajinder obviously knows
what works for everyone, and hence "slanted" your story to be inline with those notions. Sad... SugarFreeSheila wrote: :: Hi, everyone. I can't believe the number of "mistakes" they made in the article. One or
two maybe, but as you said, fabrication is the only word suitable. I've always thought media is the best platform for persuading/manipulating people on how/what they should think. Looks like this reporter has a particular agenda, and your journey was moulded to fit. Bottom line - YOU know how success came to you. It's very sad that thousands who read "your story" won't know the truth. I also agree with Cubit, I would seek legal advise. You went into this willing to share your story. What you didn't expect was this. I think you have a very good case. JD |

This is very sad, all the more so because more information about the
benefits of low-carb life should be available to people who wouldn't otherwise seek it. I know that was your intention, and they glossed over it as if it weren't there. I'm afraid an attorney won't do you much good. "Defamation", or actually libel, is only viable if you can prove financial loss or undue hardship as a result of the story. On top of that, you would have to prove that the author's intentions were malicious. The best thing I can suggest is a strongly worded letter to the editor emphasizing the low-carb angle and pointing out other inaccuracies, and express your disappointment with something to the effect that "I had believed Shape magazine would be more accurate in their reporting." Do not malign them, and try to balance the seriousness of their errors with some levity, even if it's thinly veiled sarcasm on your part. Believe me, from education and past experience, I know where which I speak. Which of I speak? Whereof I speak? Never mind. |

Well, this could cause her financial loss, since she sells low-carb cookbooks, and now this article says she sells low-fat cookbooks. She's trying to make a professional name for herself as someone who has succeeded at low-carb. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. That's exactly what I thought too I'm not sure if Sheila had any other
plans beyond writing her books on Low carb recipes, but this could really put things off course. I don't think it would do any harm to get legal advise. JD "Luna" wrote in message ...
