Interesting how quiet ASD gets during eating season.

I did some eating too, but I was 8 pounds below goal, so now I'm 5 pounds
below goal.

I'm attending a restaurant birthday dinner tonight. Oh well, no biggie. I
should be able to recover by Christmas.

In January we can watch all the new dieters pop in.

Although this is the holiday season that doesn't necessarily mean it
has to be the eating season

I've lost one pound in spite of Thanksgiving dinner, get-together at
Aunt's home, department celebration and a birthday party during the
past week. I still have more holiday events to go and I'm planning on
maintaining or even losing another couple pounds. It just takes some
planning and lots of sensible food choices.

No doubt there will be many who start a diet and exercise program
after the new year. Hopefully they'll stick with it.

It's only eating season in US, over here in UK it's just plain winter.
However various Christmas celebrations are looming, with associated
temptations to eat more than usual. I'm hoping to use the technique of
wearing the smallest item I own, a midnight blue velvet dress, which is
still really a size too small for me, so I won't be able to eat much because
it's too tight!

It's been quiet here for months on end.

It's a riot. At my health club, I always see some new faces for about
a month starting in Jan. as people make New Year's resolutions to lose
weight and get in shape. It seems to last about a month. In fact,
there is something about a 1 month to six weeks time frame. The Army
did a study several years ago and have designed a 6 weeks basic
training regimin around that. Why? Because they found out that 6 weeks
of hard concentrated effort is about all many people can tolerate
before they start hitting a brick wall. The exercise thing might have
that 6 week limitation for some people as well. dkw

I'm not looking forward to January for precisely that reason. Usually I go
to the swimming pool or gym when they open at 7am for an hour's exercise
then shower and be in work by around 9. In the dark days of end November/
December there are only a handful of other hardy souls who get up at that
time. It's great, I can choose the rowing machine closest to the fan or the
treadmill nearest the window, stay on as long as I like, and there's enough
space in the swimming pool to do anti-social things like trying to learn
butterfly stroke. Come January I'll have to observe the 12 minute limit on
machines in the gym, dodge other swimmers so no more back stroke, and I'll
need to pre-book to get into aquafit class (which involves an extra 6 miles
of cycling there and back to buy the ticket in the morning for class in the
evening). It would be OK if I could go cycling instead, but I don't enjoy
it so much in the dark and in January I'm in work for pretty much all the 8
daylight hours there are.

USENET ain't what it used to be.

On that ark thing, Mr. Barry could be comparing creative writing to piloting
hubris.
