I don't understand the chemistry behind this, you would have too google it (or
someone will jump in & explain it,) but if you choose to clean with bleach mixing it too strong will lessen the germ-killing effects. Although it is the cheapest & best way to clean up germy stuff, I don't use it becuase it makes my lungs hurt. I used to order orange oil and make my own cleaning solutions, but my new favorite cleaners are Mr. Clean orange scented and the orange scented Soft Scrub. They don't clean quite as well as the do it yourself stuff, but they are a lot more convenientRobyn |

I would not use an industrial grade bleach at all, and I would not use a domestic bleach full strength. In any case, the surfaces where you use it should be thoroughly rinsed. |

Hi,

Do you feel it is environmentally safe? What about those dioxins and stuff? It kills mold and stuff, but personally, I hate the smell of the stuff. One part household bleach in 10 parts water is what the micro labs use to disinfect surfaces. Just get a spray bottle specifically made to be used with corrosive chemicals (Home Depot or Lowes is a good source for these), and flush the excess solution after cleaning - don't store it in the spray bottle, because it'll usually corrode the spring in the sprayer mechanism. Bleach can be harmful to your lungs, so use it in a well ventilated area. When you figure cost and effectiveness, you can't beat bleach. One of the few things I like about spending time at the hospital with Howard is the faint tinge of bleach in the air that tells me things are clean. :-) Yes, I'm weird. ;-) Take care, Carmen |

I don't understand the chemistry behind this, you would have too google it (or someone will jump in & explain it,) but if you choose to clean with bleach mixing it too strong will lessen the germ-killing effects. What makes you think that? bleach works by destroying the cell walls of organisms. With the cell walls dissolved, the organisms die. |
