Default road warrior challenges

I found out on Monday morning that I had to be at a conference 200 mi away
on Tuesday night, coming home late Wed night. I found out on Monday
afternoon that I had to attend a workshop starting tonight (Thursday) and
returning Sunday night (160 mi in a different direction). The state is not
good at planning and preparation of these events.

Anyway, traveling has always been part of my job and part of my eating
problems. I always used to eat my way through strange towns, sometimes even
ordering room service to support my habit after hitting drive thrus or
restaurants. Tuesday was my first time away from home without DH since
starting HMR. It was easy on the fast because all I had to do was eat my
shakes. Now I have to eat vegetables, fruits & the daily potato. The
stress of the short notice and having to rearrange my entire life not to
mention getting all of my classes ready for a sub was only compounded by
this other issue.

I'm happy to say that the first leg of the trip went well. Because I wasn't
going to be home much this week I had a lot of food cooked in advance,
packed it all in a cooler and took it with me. Totally stayed on the plan.
Found a mile loop around the hotel to run in the AM and a Curves only two
stoplights away that I hit before the meeting. Surrounded by my favorite
restaurants (none of which are near where I live) and the temptation, I
resisted and felt good about doing it. What really felt good was in the
morning, I was able wrap one of those hotel towel around me and fasten it.
Those things used to be like a handkerchief on me

I'm leaving shortly for the rest of the weekend for this other class which
is going to be a ball-buster. Because of the travel involved I was allowed
to use this morning to get my life together between trips so I was able to
work out, check in at the clinic and attend an HMR class since I missed mine
last night, and cook a lovely acorn squash to take with me. I've been using
all of this windshield time to listen to audio books. I downloaded about 600
posts to read while I'm gone (can't access my news server remotely and I pay
hourly for access on the road) and I'll be able to reply and post on Sunday.

BTW, got the Tanita scale - 23% BF in regular mode/20% in athletic mode (hr
was 52). Checked the bf calculator at Curves and it was also 23%. I was -5
pounds at weigh in this morning.

Good for you, Jen! Congratulations on staying on plan, exercising, and
last but not least, the five pound loss!

Wow... you've done a fantastic job of meeting these challenges! I'm sure
you'll do just as well on the second part of this trip.

Congratulations! Travelling can be really hard -- and rewarding if you
are able to successfully stay on plan :-)

So far, so good, apparently their wireless network allows me access to my
newsgroups, though I need to be paying attention in class

Some classes require a small break I often open my planner and write a
to-do-list in the middle of boring meetings. The others just think I'm
taking meeting notes.

I normally play games (Mille Bournes, Yahtzee) during meetings and classes,
but this one I'm on the laptop on a wireless net and too busy to play.
Spent lunch eating (tossed salad, acorn squash, & 1 HMR shake). Though right
now it's something I can listen and do this so I am.

I wish, but this class has to do with my new administrative license I need
and it's a lot of info. Blah. At least this town has a great mall and I'm
headed back tonight for the little black skirt from The Limited I saw last
night (and some high heeled, knee-high black leather boots to go with it).
I don't have internet from my room except for my slow dial-up because their
high speed didn't work on my computer and they had no tech support so I
might as well shop away my per diem money because I'm not using it to eat

Hey - Now there's a perk to dieting I bet you never considered before.

Now I'm gonna have to go check out this little black skirt thing. I
got a great pair of knee high boots last year and have limited outfits
to wear it with.
