Hi,

I'm re-starting LC and walking and i was wondering what is the best:

walking 30 min 2 times/day
or walking 60min 1time/day

Does it do the same thing on the body or not? Hum?
Thanks!

Christine

As Michelle says, the one you're stick to over the long haul is the best.
if you haven't been doing much exercise in a long time, then shorter
sessions might be better, but it sounds as if you can handle either.

I think the best one is whichever one you are more likely to do.

Exercise raises your metabolism for something like 12 hours. Exercising twice
a day will keep your metabolism chugging along real nice. You might try both
if it is convenient and see if it speeds your weight loss.

It depends on how big your block is . Choose a course that isn't
out-n-back or repetitive; around the block is better than having to
turn around at some point (because you can always turn around sooner.

Our block is 15 miles, so we don't have that option :-P

I've heard some folks say that it takes 20 minutes of light exercise
before your body really starts burning fat. This wasn't specific to
LC, so it might be irrelevent here, but all else being equal (which it
rarely is), that might indicate that the 60x1 option is slightly
better, because you only have one warmup period instead of two.

But most importantly is this: do the one that you will not give up on!
Any exercise is better than no exercise.

I tryed the Suzanne Sommers diet at first. I didn't get much luck. Was too hard
to follow the rules of the book. I find Atkins works for me so far. Though I
had to twist the diet around in certain ways, to best fit me. Thats why I like
it so much I think.

Maybe go to a library, see if you can browse the different books for low carb,
WOE. Write down the good parts of the books, weigh it out in your mind, or even
on paper.. Which diet would likely suit you. Like the pros and cons.

Once you decide, we are here for support!

Mix it up, why don'tcha? One day walk for an hour, next day break it
up! See how your schedule plays out - you might not be able to commit
to a one-hour block of time each and every day.

Bottom line is that you're walking. Get your heart rate up to your
target heart rate and keep it there for a minimum of 20 minutes.
