You don't make tomatoes palatable. You stay away from them. Not only
does a tomato have a lot of carbs, in my mind a tomato is a dangerous
thing.

I worked in a canning factory back when I was just out of high school.
It only took a short time period of time working with steaming tomatoes
on the assembly line before the acid from the tomatoes started taking
the skin off of my hands, arms, and leg spots. It did that to everyone,
no matter how much you tried to protect yourself. It was the only
vegetable I worked with that actually caused body damage. Even after 40
years, tomatoes still bring back bad memories. The situation would make
a good horror movie.

One of the blessings of the low-carb diet is that it considers tomatoes
to high-carb to include them in the basic diet. Thank God! A great
excuse not to eat tomatoes!

Hi, all,

I recently read an article that said that 8 oz daily of tomato juice
resulted in decreased platelet aggregation in diabetics. (I'm diabetic.)
It *might* be the lycopene, but they tested the whole juice, so that's what
I'm drinking.

The trouble is that I *hate* tomato juice. I also hate tomato soup and raw
tomatoes. I like ketchup and pizza sauce well enough, but as you can
imagine, it's a little hard to get the whole 8 oz that way.

So my question is this: how do you make tomato juice palatable? I've been
adding a little toasted sesame oil, which goes well, but does anybody have
a suggestion as to how to make it better?

So far, I've been just holding my nose and chugging it, then brushing my
teeth.
