Default My thyroid

Ok- I have been lurking for quite a while- I am suspecting that my
thyroid is to blame. This is my menu for 2 weeks to the T!
breakfast- 2 scrambled eggs with Pam on 1 slice whole wheat tst with 1
tsp mayo
snack- 1 whey protein shake with water
lunch- 2 cups lettuce with 1-2 hard boiled eggs and sometimes a can of
tuna then I dunk then lettuce into olive oil with spices dressing
snack- another shake mixed with water ( from GNC)
dinner - chicken breast with 1 cup veggies and maybe 1/2 cup wild or
brown rice.

I drink almost 1 gallon water a day and have 2 cuos coffee with 2
splenda packets.
During the 2 weeks I have had about 3 mixed drinks which were bacardi
and diet coke
I have gained 10 pounds!!!!!

What is going on with my body

Thanks

Try eating less, fatbody.

You don't have a under active thyroid, you have an over active fork.

You'r emixing high-fat with carby foods .. rice and toast; the worst
possible combination. The starches give you an insulin boost that deposits
the fats you're eating with it right on your backside. In fact, you could
save yourself all the trouble of preparing the rice and toast and just
duct-tape it to your hips! The calories in alcohol are used before those
from fat, protein or carbs, so that also helps put on weight.

May I ask what plan you are following?

first I would like to say that I love the over active fork- very -
very funny!!
I am not following "any set plan"
I did low carb last year and to be honest- I would stink! Not so much
my breath but my sweat and everything else. It was very gross and not
mention perfect birth control!

Anyway- my thought process was that it was low calorie and that at
least some weight would come off. Obviously not! So after the
couple of swift kicks I have deceided that I need to re read the book
and start on induction again.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the replies.

Funny but true. Refers to portion control, a necessary component for
any successful weight loss endeavor. Eat more than you need to curb
hunger and it will result in no loss, possibly even gain.

If you don't have a map created by someone who's been there, how can
you possibly know where you're going?

As body fat breaks down, impurities that have been stored in it have
to have an outlet. Some of those impurities are expelled through sweat
glands. Suffer the stench while your body cleanses itself. You'll be
better off for it. Shower more often in the meantime. :P

Yep.
Have your thyroid checked by your doctor to rule out or confirm
hypothyroidism if it's a concern for you.
Get rid of the shakes - they are carbier than you might think.
Bread and rice are not low-carb.
Keep it simple. Eat real foods such as meats, green vegetables, hard
cheeses, yogurt, tree nuts. Make sure you get enough fiber.
Follow the plan of your choice and adapt it to your body's needs over
time and with experience.
Ignore the calories until you're closer to maintenance. Instead,
practice tight portion control, manage the carbs, and get the right
amount of healthy fats in your diet.
Adjust portions downward as your weight and/or appetite decreases, but
don't starve yourself.
Take supplemental vitamins.
Keep drinking *lots* of water.
*Do not* try to mix low-carb with low-fat.
Exercise.
Eat enough real protein so that your body doesn't need to burn muscle
for its protein needs. Don't overdo it. This is not intended to be a
high-protein diet.
Eat enough green vegetables. This is not intended to be a NO-CARB
diet.
Choose LC (higher fat) alternatives for any dairy products you
consume.
Read and educate yourself.
Post your questions and concerns here so that you can benefit from
those with more or less wisdom and experience (you get to decide which
is which :P).
Don't start flame wars with those you perceive as asshats and/or
trolls. Killfile them quietly and enjoy your newsgroup experience in
peace. (I know. This isn't strictly a diet tip, but too much stress
*could* inhibit weight loss. And following this tip would make some of
*us* a little happier. Might even keep *you* safe from *our*
killfiles.g)
Lose your preconceived notions about everything diet-related and keep
an open mind.
Stay with it until you find what works for you and then keep on doing
it.
Work on finding the eating habits that will get you slim and keep you
slim for the rest of your life without deprivation.
Don't slide back into your old habits. The fat will find you much
faster the next time, because all those starving fat cells will grab
at any chance to fill back up. They'll always be there waiting to get
replenished.

Did I miss anything? g

Thanks for the replies.

This depends on the shake. Read your label on the Whey protein. Isopure is
one of the better brands. The vanilla is less than 1 carb for a 1 scoop
serving (but it does require some flavor help....i use white chocolate
DaVinci and it's pretty good).
