Yerba Mate
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has any info on the carb content, if any, of brewed Yerba Mate. My husband and I switched from coffee several months ago. We really like the flavour, and it has a great stimulant effect without the jitters of caffeine. We brew a pot every morning in our coffee maker, and I end up consuming about 12-14 fl oz of it, with 2 tsp Splenda. Anyone have any info, opinions, comments or questions? -- Regards, Deb 235/214.5/135 |

Yerba Mate
Whether or not Yerba Mate contains caffeine has not, according to my
research, been conclusively determined. Some claim it contains a similar compound called mateine. I too have researched it on google - I was hoping for personal experience type info. Something to think about - as a coffee addict for years, and having many times in my life suffered the "caffeine overload" - I can tell you that Yerba Mate does not have the same physiological affect on mt as coffee did. There are no headaches if you miss it, and you can drink it late in the day, right before bed even, and still sleep like a baby. This sounds very interesting to me. I will have to try some. Maybe I'll bring it to work with me instead of coffee ! * |
