Default Trouble with sugar free mints.

I bought some Smint wild berry pastels the other day, sweetened with
Xylicare...I won't get them again because they seem to cause cravings
after having the. Anyone else notice this kind of reaction to these
things?

Every now and then, I get M&Ms or something for a comfort food. And then I
go back to my regular WOE. I don't get cravings. But this is just me, and
you are just you. Things can be different. If something gives you cravings
for more carbs, I really suggest you avoid them. And this is just me to
you.

I can usually avoid the comfort foods, as lons as I have LC stuff ready.
I can get by pretty much without it. But those mints led me to evil
thougts!

Yes! I had the same reaction to sugar-free chocolate mints. There
should have only been a gram or two of carb in each one, counting the
sugar alcohols, but I found that after eating one I could not stop
eating a bunch more and ended up hungry.

I assume there's something about the particular sugar alcohol they use
(sorbitol?) that kicks off a craving reaction. I've had the same
reaction to several other foods with sugar alcohols in them.

Whatever it is, once the tin was gone I determined not to buy another.

Yeah, I gave mine away to the secretary. I had another one today as an
experiment, they are tiny things, and it gave me cravings again. Diet
Coke doesn't do that to me, but these did!

Wise.

I get the same reaction with nuts and there's no SAs in them.

I wonder if it's psychological, not chemical. Maybe a sweet taste, with or
without sugar or sugar alcohols, leads to a desire for more sweets?

Ive noticed the same thing with equal in my coffee in the morning. If I dont
use it, and stick to cream only, I seem to fare better with cravings.
