I was trying on clothing today to clean out the closet again, and found
a skirt that I tried on - and it fit. It's from 1985.

Woot.

Before you ask yourself, why do I keep clothing from 1985, I will
answer: it was something handmade by my now-deceased mother, and the
few things I have that she did, I will keep, no matter whether they fit
or not. But I have to admit it's better when they fit - at least for
now!

Super-big congrats, Nancy!! It's such a great feeling, isn't it?

I went clothes-shopping myself on Friday, and bought some jeans and dress
slacks in a size that I also haven't worn since almost that long ago
(probably around 1990 for me). I was too chicken to try them on in the
store, not being sure if I had actually gotten small enough to wear that
size. But I figured I'd buy them anyway, to use as a goal even if I
couldn't wear them now.

Well, I got home and they did fit - I did a victory dance around the house,
*grin*. I'm still having a hard time mentally adjusting myself to the fact
that I have lost four clothing sizes - I've been buying the same size for so
long and never believed I'd ever get back down to the size I am now. Just
for fun I tried on the jeans I was wearing when I started this WOE - and I
can put them on without having to unbutton/unzip them first, now.

I'm so happy for you - it's extra-nice to be able to wear something that has
such value/memories as well as just being in a smaller size. You go, girl!!

That has to feel great!! It is funny you stated 1985. I am as bad with
keeping stuff forever. I tried a jacket from 1982 or 1 that fits great. It
was my favorite leather jacket. I am going to wear it all fall. It is fun
to do stuff like that.

It was nice to hear someone out there looking through the ol' closet too.
Keep up the good work!

I hear ya. I have a denim jacket from 6th grade, 1986 or 87, my mom sewed
flowers on the back that she cut out from leftover drapery fabric. My mom
died when I was 13, so of course I still have the jacket!

I still have the denim skirt that I was wearing when I met my husband
(1989). I am very looking forward to the day when I can wear it again
(probably in about 30 pounds).

I was scrabbling about in a cupboard today looking for one of my
swimsuits, and found two pairs of jeans I last wore in 1999, a size
smaller than the trousers I'm normally wearing day to day. Tried them
on and...they fit! You know how unforgiving jeans are in the size
department - I was so pleased, you an probably imagine. They're very
tight still, but at least I could pull them on and do them up. Much
joy! I may even wear them next weekend.

Wow! That's great, Nancy! I sure wish I'd saved my smaller
clothes. Oh, I have some, but I ditched the smallest sizes.
