Default Health Checkup, Cholesterol Readings Report

Good Morning everyone. I wanted to report to the group about my progress
on the Atkins Diet.

I am a 35 year old Male.

Diets had never worked for me. I had replaced everything in the house
with low fat foods and gave it my best shot for nearly a year.

On June 4th, 2003 I weighed the most I had ever weighed.... 286 pounds.
My total cholesterol was above 240. I do not remember my HDL/LDL ratio
but my doctor was on my ass to do something. My older brother is on
cholesterol controlling drugs and I was headed that way. My blood
pressure had creeped up to 150/90.

When I topped out at 286, I realized that something needed to change. I
went on the low carb diet. Here it is almost 5 months later. I weigh 240
pounds (I am 15 pounds from my goal weight of 225.) A loss of 46
pounds. My blood pressure is 118/70, and my cholesterol is:
Total: 171
HDL 36
LDL 105.

My brother was skeptical up until the cholesterol readings were in.
After reading the successes here, I was motivated to go see the doctor
and get the facts.

I know that this WOE will have to be permanent or I will just eventually
creep back up to where I was. I do not have a problem with that. I get
to eat a wide variety of delicious and satisfying foods, and I am ok
with that.

Thanks everyone for the supportive words and help.

M

Your HDL is (still ?) too low. Work on this.

Cheers.

Great results so far. You're right in believing the changes you've made in your
WOE need to be permanent, but your improvements to date should be motivation to
stick with it.

Fantastic! Isn't it a good feeling to know that you're not only losing
weight, but getting healthier too? Keep up the good work!
