MSN: "But I Don't Eat That Much!"

I offer two distinct definitions for cure - 1) For a symptom that requires some input for it to happen, remove that input and symptoms disappear without taking any medication. View the input as a poison and this view tends to make sense. View the input as a common food group like grains supplying starch carbs and it starts to be problematic if you are unwilling to call grains a personal poison. Diabetics will call this "contol by diet" rather than "cure". 2) The damage has been reversed to the point you can once again resist the effects of the poison if you start taking it again. For a diabetic this might take cell transplants to restore their ability to produce insulin. The problem with this view of cure is if you start taking the cause again once you are cured, eventually the law of cause and effect will ensure that the damage happens all over again. So yes, if you remain low carb forever there isn't any distinction between those two means when it comes to insulin resistance. Ah, if only I could pull that off - Carbs do trigger an addictive behavior pattern for me that makes me need to start all over from scratch. |
