Vegetarian Low-Carb
Yeah I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but there are some out there. I've
been doing low-carb vegetarian for almost 6 months now and for a while I have not been in ketosis, so I want to do an Induction again. However, it is almost impossible to do induction while not eating any meat. Any suggestions? I have been losing weight, but ketosis would rapidly increase the loss correct? I really don't have a huge amount of weight to lose, just have some belly fat to get rid of. Thanks |

I've lost 70 pounds on low-carb (I'm not a vegetarian - I eat fish) so far without a "keto" anything. Because for me, low-carb helps enable portion control. Vegetarian Low-Carb
Hold on there - I have moronic moments, I admit, but I'm certainly not
an ox! : It's tougher as a vegetarian, because I have yet to find a protein source that has no carbs at all. Flesh eaters can have fish and meat and 0 carbs - nice. I managed induction by eating a rather repetitive diet of eggs, cheese and tofu, with occasional soy-based meat substitutes for variety. Eggs in the morning, cheese and romaine salad with oily dressing for lunch (or cream cheese in celery), tofu stir fry for supper, with spinach or parsley (I love parsley) added to the stir fry at the last minute to take the place of rice or noodles. I was able to keep carbs under 20g, and after the first couple of days, was never hungry or craving anything. Not sure about ketosis increasing the loss, but I suspect so. I've been lucky - able to stay in it quite easily. My weight loss has been slow but steady; no great whooshes for me, but it's working, so I'm sticking to it. There's a lot of different ways you can flavour tofu - someday I'll figure them all out. Good luck! mx AquamanBAV wrote: Yeah I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but there are some out there.
