I have no appetite ....
A couple of easy ways to add calories are nuts and heavy cream. You can
take nuts with you anywhere to snack on. Make a shake with heavy cream, it adds up fast. In , M.E.F. stated | Hi everyone, I am new to this group and low-carb eating in general. | | I have been following Atkins since April 4/04. I am still on | Induction, and have lost 20 lbs. so far. I am certain that 20 lbs. | gone in approx. 6 weeks is due to the fact that, due to stress | (marital breakdown) I am lucky if I manage 3 small meals/day. Most | days it is only 2 meals/day, and at least one of those meals is a | protein/fat shake because it's about all I can get into me. I have | been counting net carbs and have averaged about 11 grams/day. Just | not eating enough and am too stressed to even think abou eating. The | only exercise I am getting is briskly walking for one hour/day with my | dogs. Surprisingly, my energy level is good, averaging 6-7 hours of | sleep/night, which has been my pattern for the past number of years. | | Just wondering, has anyone else been through something similar (no | appetite, that is) and gone on to get to their goal weight? I am | afraid that my body will go into starvation mode, as is the case when | one takes in far fewer calories than necessary. I don't want to stunt | the progress I've made so far, but simply cannot force myself to eat | right now, and have no idea when I will be able to eat normally again. | It depends on how my home situation plays out. | | Any advice is appreciated!! | | Mia | 175/155/140 | Atkins since April 4/04 |

Doug F. said, Perhaps too new to know that reduced appetite is perhaps the most important reason why low carbing is popular? Losing weight without hunger - the low carb way. I (Becky) This is exactly what I was thinking when I read her email. What is the problem? That is the advantage of LC. My advice...read some more info on LC dieting. Millions of people around the world only eat 2 meals a day. Millions of people don't eat all the fruit/veggies that the USDA says you have to eat or you'll die of some strange disease. I take it all now with a grain of salt...or rather, huge chunks of it. Becky P. in Poland www.family.solidrockpl.org |

Yes heavy cream helps *me* when I just can't imagine putting anything
in my stomach. Of course there's my morning dose in my coffee. Also, I pour it straight onto SF black cherry jello - it's a nice tummy soother. Or I whip it with a little vanilla and a little Splenda, and eat it straight. Sometimes it's the only thing I can eat, but it is helping me get my calories. |
