Default Leptin a hormone that affects weight and appetite

I just read a recent article - (at Yahoo.com - news - April 1, 2004)
entitled "Fat Hormone Can Rewire Brain, U.S. Studies Show" - source
Reuters.

http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/....+studies+show

Once scientists fully understand the mechanism of leptin and how it
affects our weight and appetite, then the next thing is to create a
remedy for excessive appetite and maybe change the "set point" on some
people. Perhaps, in the near future, obesity will be a thing of the
past. Wow, wouldn't it be great!

What are your thoughts.

Leptin is old news. I've got pointers to a couple of articles about
it on my web page:
http://www.delorie.com/health/

Also, google for "leptigen" (NOT leptoprin).

It's great that you've found another excuse to rationalize your obesity.

Eat less, exercise more. Even you should be able to figure out how to lose
weight. Quit looking for excuses and just do it.

Works great in rats. If only humans had a magic bullet like that.
But it doesn't work in humans. Sigh. Doug zaps his
"blessed wand of nothing 0/4 named leptin". Nothing happens. Sigh.

Leptin made inside the body has very real effects, though.

Could you repost your thoughts on that/evidence you've scrounged up
under a new thread so I can save the link for quick referal? Newbies
keep asking *why* it's better to move on to OWL and find your ccll, and
"because" doesn't really help explain it for most of them. They want
the science, and your past postings on the subject are a bit spread out.

If you'd read my reply to your post "New to Newsgroup", you'd
realize that your comments below are unnecessary.

I suggest you read all posts addressed to you before putting your
clever glog in your mouth. Pat

If you weren't such an idiot, you'd realize that it's not efficient to reply
to posts in that manner. I'm not going to read 300 posts, and then go back
and find the ones I want to reply to. What I posted is still relevant and
good advice. TIFWIW.
