Food & Exercise -- 5/1/2004
Well, last night was the big wine banquet. All things considered, I
was pretty happy with my eating. I'd decided ahead of time to splurge and eat whatever I wanted, but I needed to pace myself so that I could make it through the dinner without getting too full too soon. I ate a lot during the champagne and appetizer period -- partly because I was cold (we'd had a ceremony outdoors beforehand and got rained on a bit) and partly because the appetizers were really good. I just tasted most of the courses at dinner (though these were also excellent). And -- considering what's offered, and considering it was a 6-hour event -- I drank relatively little -- just a few sips of most of the wines. I have so much less capacity for alcohol than I used to that I prefer to play it safe, as I don't like how I feel when I drink too much. And after last night I felt neither drunk nor over-full -- had a nice night's sleep in my hotel room downtown and woke up feeling good -- though not hungry. Anyway... Food: 8:30 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices melted f/f cheese 12:45 (home): 1 oz. mixed nuts 2:30 (home): 92g grilled chicken breast + 1 slice f/f cheese on 1 slice whole wheat bread 5:30 (hotel freebie wine hour): 2 oz. wine; 1 oz. mixed nuts; 6 olives 7:30 -- 8:30 (champagne reception): 5 oz. champagne; 4 "crab cigars" -- little egg-roll like things with crabmeat in them; 4 little fried raviolis with duck, orange, and tarragon in them 8:30 -- 11:30 (wine dinner): another 7 oz. of wine -- roughly one ounce each of 7 wines; 1 1/2 scallops w/ apple slices and ground hazlenuts; 3 oz. foie gras (I ate all of this :-) ); 1 oz. grapefruit sorbet; 1 oz. grilled tuna; 2 oz. prime rib w/ wine sauce; 1 oz. mashed potatoes; 3 oz. dark chocolate mousse and a little of the tart shell it was served in Totals: 2282 calories (300 from alcohol), 85g fat (34%), 174g carbs (30%), 132g protein (23%) Averages for the week: 1559 calories, 23% fat, 46% carbs, 38% protein Exercise: None of significance.
