Default Atkins and High Blood Pressure

I googled this subject, but didn't find quite what I was looking for.
A co-worker of mine had problems with her blood pressure when she was
pregnant. Right before she had the baby (a year ago) it went up really
high and she had to go into the hospital early. After having her baby
her pressure went down to normal. I'm taking it that this happens to
some women. I didn't experience this.

Anyway, last week she decided she wanted to lose some weight and
wanted to try Atkins. She was on it over the weekend and came back and
said she had to quit because "all the protein she was eating made her
BP go up and gave her a bad headache". When she ate "normal", her BP
went back to normal. To my knowledge, she is not on BP meds of any
kind.

Did anyone experience this or have any insight?

Thanks in advance,
Peggy

Since this is the second time you have posted this, I'm thinking it is vegan
propaganda.

The 87 pounds I have lost on low carb are probably the reason my high blood
pressure has gone away.

He/She/It apparently does not read responses....

How does she know it was the protein? Maybe she was eating more sodium than
usual. And did she actually measure her BP or did she assume that was the
cause of her headache? A temporary headache in the first few days of
induction is quite common.

Ok, I apologized in the other post I made...so here goes again. lol. I
hit posted this subject yesterday and it gave me an error. So I
thought it did not post. Sorry. I can assure you, I am a LC-er all
the way! My co-worker had this problem with BP and I was curious about
it. Thought maybe it was unique to her. In any case she is not going
to consider LC-ing any time soon.

My blood pressure was around 140/100 but after losing about 18 pounds it was
119/76. I have now lost 24 pounds. LC has regulated both my BP and BG (I
was hypoglycemic - but very rarely have problems with an LC diet) My doctor
was the one who told me to do LC to regulate the above conditions. I'm glad
I have a doctor that believes in LC.

If your co-worker was eating packaged meats - then there was definitely a
lot of added sodium - which would contribute to higher BP.
