ROLLCALL: For the Newbies (and Veterans)
Let's introduce ourselves again. It's a good way to get to know eachother
and to quickly find lowcarbers who have similar goals. Perhaps we can find a weightloss buddy! I'm Carol Ann. I started low carbing on March 21, 2001. After an initial 20 lb loss, I went into maintenance but really wanted to go into OWL (ongoing weightloss). Since then, I've had a baby. Here are my stats and goals: 168/165/130 For those who may remember, I also hosted the Monthly Weightloss Challenge for years. Whenever needed, I can step back in and start updating at www.lowcarblosers.com. From what I see, the challenge that is currently in place seems to work. Here are some successful lowcarbers: http://www.lowcarblosers.com/#success If you have a successful weightloss story you would like to share on the website, please let me know. ~Carol Ann Mother to Morgan born 3.24.04 |

OK. Im a newbie. This is Day 5. I've decided to weigh only once a week,
which will be Sunday. I lived in Atlanta for much of my life and three years ago, moved to the mountains of western North Carolina, aout 15 miles from the nearest tiny town of Murphy. Country life is bliss. I have a wide trout stream running beside my house and I can always hear it's song. No need to lock doors, no traffic, no air pollution..... Im 55, a widow, and I have four dogs and a cat. The least I remember ever weighing was 145, in sixth grade. As an adult I got down to 165 for a brief period, but zoomed back up to an eventual 220 at my highest. I did manage to get to 202, where I've been for a while. This group is a godsend. That along w/quitting caffiene and smoking (which I did for about 15 years) did the trick. I also lost 30 lbs and kept it off for a few years. Then I got fat while pregnant. I'm married, have a preschooler, a toddler, a sneaky cat, a squeaky mouse and a squawky lovebird. I helped my husband lose about 30 lbs on LC and he loves it too . I'm 20lbs from goal. I do Atkins. Warren in Long Beach NY.... I 55 and 196 pounds and have been LCing for
about 12-14 years..... I did very well till last summer when I put back on 7 of the pounds I lost, having kept them off all the years. I tried induction 10x in the last few months failing each time. Went to an endo and he sorted out the problem. Back on induction for 3 days now and am doing great. Down almost 4 pound (today is the 4th day) Hunger gone and can feel that I am back in K..... LC is a great way of living..... W nanner wrote: "Carol Ann" wrote in message news:hVmje.9514$V2.4020@attbi_s72... Let's introduce ourselves again. Hi All!
I've been lurking around for about a year. I was always a skinny kid. Skinny to the point that teachers sent notes home to my mother to try and have her feed me! When I graduated from high school, I was 5'10 and 120lbs. Growing to over twice my size was something that I never thought would happen to me! My highest weight was 262lbs. After my younger sister passed away - from complications due to obesity brought on by several illnesses, I decided I was not going to go out like that. Following Atkins I got down to 219, but stresses this year made me lose my way for a bit and I went back up to 231. I am back on the wagon as of last week and happy to be back (and for the 4 lbs of water gone in the week)! I'm a 42 year-old single mom of one teenaged girl on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are about 5 miles from the Chesapeake Bay and I get to cross the bridge on a daily basis to get to work. It's the best in late spring/early fall when it's warm enough to drop the top of the convertible! We live with a hyper dog, a prim and proper kitty and the frog we found in the garden (that's where he still lives). Ultimately, I'm hoping to get back down to 150-160ish. But for now, baby steps... 5lbs here and there will keep me going. Besides, 5lbs is more realistic on a weekly basis and doesn't sound as scary as 67lbs!!! New oldbie here! Started in 2001 and went from 340 to about 145, but
life problems got too hard and I tried burying it in carbs. Now I am back on track, almost a week now and loving it. |

Sherry here, 48 years old, live in Michigan with wonderful husband, 14YO
daughter, a couple of dogs, a cat, and 15 parrots. I run a nutrition-related (avian) business from home. I was skinny/bony as a teenager, then all that ended and I started fighting weight gain in college. After 4 years of dorm food I was up from 142 to about 180ish where I stayed until my first marriage...pregnancy...getting heavy enough that he couldn't throw me anymore G...consoling myself with food after the divorce...and one thing after another led to me being 360+. (I don't recall my exact weight last time I was at the doctor last year, 360 is close enough when you weigh as much as me!) Developed coronary disease along the way, hypertension, and of course the various joint and soft tissue problems associated with carrying around this much weight. Tried many things, succeeded at a couple, for a while...failed at most. Started researching LC a couple of years ago out of idle interest, then one day I came home from church and just decided to start that day and I've been at it ever since - not even a single "cheat" because I don't need or want to. Totally enjoying watching myself shrink although I don't weigh myself - the scale is still my enemy. But I can tell it's working, and since I'll be eating this way for life I don't obsess about the actual pounds. Just love watching my clothes get bigger and my body change and get smaller. Someday I might decide that that weight number matters; right now it doesn't. And I love the heck out of eating LC! -- Sherry 360/?/195 LC since 4/4/05 My LC Journey - www.livejournal.com/users/ShrinkingSherry |

I've been around this site since the late 90's...on and off just like
my low carb walk.....Hit an all time high of 225 a couple of years ago and got down to 190 last summer.....then shot back up again to about 210. Am back on and heading for the 100's again. I seem to go through cycles of really not caring what I weigh and then really wanting to feel and look better......I am taking it one day/meal at a time..... Robin www.lowcarbchristians.com |

I'm Peter; you can read my story on my website (URL on my sig). I started low-carbing for weight loss, and now do it because of the incredible health benefits that I've realized -- including lower blood pressure (off 2 meds), no more acid reflux, no more IBS, eczema cleared up, dramatically reduced triglyceride levels (with no meds), LDL cholesterol reduced to normal levels (with no meds), HDL "good" cholesterol increased, off of SSRI's for panic attacks (they'e gone now), and normalized blood sugar levels (T2 Is there any other way to eat???! -- Peter Website: http://users.thelink.net/marengo |
