D Hi Destiny, I've been down at my mom's in North Carolina -- just got back. I need to update my food logs and then will post all the old data. It was a stressful trip -- we made a joint decision that it's time to move my mom to the assisted living component (i.e., nursing home level of care) of her retirement complex -- and I was very busy with stuff related to that. I got no exercise and ate too much, but I'm back to the routine for a little while, though I'm heading back down there on the 15th to help with Mom's actual move, then again in mid-March with my brother to close out her apartment. While mom is fully in agreement that it's time for this change, the move from a beautiful apartment of 4 large rooms to a single room is not an easy one either emotionally or logistically. I wish all this had waited until my retirement in July, but things don't always work out as we wish. I'm afraid there's no magic to the turkey burgers. I buy frozen pre-made ones from Jennie-O (160 calories each) and cook them in my George Foreman grill. The whole wheat buns are from Trader Joe's, the fat-free cheese from Kraft, the dill pickles from Vlasic, and the catsup from Heinz :-). Destiny,
I was reading through the posts and saw the mention of turkey burgers. I don't have a GF grill but do have a tasty recipe for turkey burgers. The recipe uses a fry pan, but I usually do it on the grill. I would think you could also use the GF grill to cook them. 1 lb ground turkey 1/2 c. Italian seasoned breadcrumbs 3 tbsp finely chopped onion 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp. oregano 1/4 tsp pepper dash Worcestershire sauce 2 garlic clove, minced 2 egg white, lightly beaten Combine first 9 ingredients in a bowl; stir well. Add egg white; stir until blended. Divide mixture into 1/4 lb. portions, shaping into ½ inch thick patties. Coat a medium nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Place over medium heat until hot. Add patties; cook 5 min. on each side. Serve patties on hamburger buns with tomato and onion. Per serving: 307 calories; 10 g fat; 26 g protein; 27 g carbs (Serving being 1/4 lb. turkey breast) |

I get the large size box from BJ's warehouse. I also cook them on the George. If it's just me -- not DH and me -- I will sometimes do a Boca original burger (70 cals, 13 g protein) instead because I can nuke it so there is less cleanup ;-) -- jmk in NC |

I still grill them or heat them in a pan. -- the volleyballchick |
