My daughter had a craving for apples and picked up a few in our local A&P.
If you want to cure a craving for apples, this apple will do it. Three of us
in the family each tried slices of it and spit the taste out! I've never
tried an apple with such an awful taste! 'Paulared' is what the sticker on
it read.
The bunnies in the back yard got the apples, I just hope we don't get
attacked by irate sour-faced bunnies!

I haven't eaten any fruit in 5 years, but I just started adding an
occasional apple, with fine results. Anyone know which varieties are

lowest
in carbs, and highest in fiber, or are they basically the same?

I started LC at 190 last November and lost 30 lbs. by January. After
staying at 160 for several months, I began adding fruit to my diet, since
that is what I missed most during my weight loss period. I usually have
fruit for lunch - 2 or 3 pieces. I eat pears, plums, apples, oranges,
apricots - whatever I find that looks good. 2 larger pieces or 3 smaller
pieces usually fill me up and I don't get hungry again for about 5 hours.
Since I began eating fruit for dessert, a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast

and
a salad with meat and cheese for dinner, I've lost another 5 lbs.

I've noticed similar things myself.
I've been noticing that carb count matters less than the source of the carb.
Good carbs like fruits and veggies don't normally kick me out of ketosis.

However, all it seems to take is a tiny amount of an unhealthy carb (like
sugar) and I'm out of ketosis and it messes with my progress.

I never said they were. And personally, I could care less how many
carbs an apple has... I eat one every day, and plan to continue until
I'm 110. So nah, nah, nah! I fart in your general direction.
(and don't give me any crap about this being a low carb news group!!)
Stupid IBMers...

To the original poster:
(large) Granny Smith: 101 calories, 0g fat, 25.9g carbs
Red Delicious 127 cal, 0 fat, 32.9g carb

I think that's right - Granny Smith's are the lowest in sugar...
however, bright red apples (such as Mac's) have a higher content of
healthy, anti-cancer and disease-fighting, phytochemicals and
flavanoids. The darker red, the better (from that perspective).

You're just one more example of fat and stupid being inextricably linked.
