Default what happens to the fat

Having a discussion at work today & we where trying to decide what happens
to the fat in your body that is burned up through weightloss????

Is it really just burned up

Is it secreted out of the body through sweating etc..

Or is it just naturally removed through the waste cycle????

Answers on a postcard please ;-)

When you sweat, it makes little bubbles that come out through the pores of
your skin, those bubbles are too small to be seen, but they are what makes
you feel gross when you're sweating..

Those little bubbles are the fat escaping... the more bubbles the more fat
you're losing. That's why you have to move a lot, to dislodge the bubbles so
that they will slip out.

I was told that the stored energy is "utilized" and the waste products of
that utilization is passed out with other waste from your body. Surely
there's a website somewhere that explains how/why/when your body converts
fat to energy and uses it. Here are a few I came across.

Don't worry about what people think,
they don't do it very often.

That makes me think of the old bubblewrap popping story... Have you really
been around this group that long that you remember that story too?

I wish I had my college biology book handy.

I like the previous post for the most simplistic answer.
"matter converted to energy"

Think of it this way...

When you put 1 cup of water into a sauce pan over a heat source then watch
while it heats to a boil and let it sit - what happens to the water? Where
does it go?

Similar things happen to fat in the body when you consume at a caloric
deficit to your bodies needs.

I've heard that you never really "lose" fat cells...they just shrink.
Anyone know if that's true?

Here's a site that might answer your question. I've also included one
on exercise and the shrinking of fat cells.
