Yes, that's the only reason anyone would ever look at someone else's
posting history. There couldn't possibly be any other explanation.

People do that because they have nothing else going on in their lives,
and love to have some sort of "power" over people that they don't
agree with.

I have been on Usenet for over 10 years, and such busybody people
never change. It is pretty sad really as it stifles any sort of real
discussion.

Actually some people check posting history to see if someone is worth the
time to even respond to. It has nothing to do with power but instead to see
who they're dealing with. Another reason to check posting history might be
to learn something about a person in order to offer the best advice. Not
everyone's motives are negative.
