Am I getting played?

I'm confused, I've never been good at 'courting', and I'm beginning to
wonder if I'm getting played.

I guess I should explain first

I met this girl back in July at an online dating site, and we started
talking. She lives about a half-hour from me. She's 18, I'm 21. Well,
we talked on the phone for about a month, almost everyday, seemed like
we really clicked. Finally, we agreed to meet up. I was nervous, it
was kind of awkward, but all in all it went well. Since then we've
hung out together almost everyday. She's fun to be around, and I
really enjoy her company. We became close, and all the little signs
were pointing towards a relationship, from taking her out on a date,
to the first kiss, to resulting kisses afterward, everytime I leave
her place. We cuddle while I'm there, and go places together. I took
her to an amusement park and we held hands teh whole time, and we're
generally all cuddly the wholed day. After about 3 weeks of us seeing
each other in person, things started to get physical. We haven't had
sex, but have done a few bedroom related activities. I recently
expressed my interest to move forward (after 2 1/2 months), to make it
official and to start a relationship. Much to my surprise, I got this
reply.

She told me that we were "dating", but not boyfriend/girlfriend. Now
to me, dating has always meant that you were together with someone,
not to mention if it didnt, then at the very least "dating" was the
prequel to a relationship. I asked her what was different between what
we are doing now, and what we would be doing if we were a couple, and
she told me that that if we were a couple that it meant she wouldn't
be able to go out on dates with other guys if she wanted to. She said
she just started college, was meeting new people, and wanted to be
able to go out on dates with other guys if she wanted to. I sat there
in shock at this, because to me, all signs we're pointing that she and
I were together.

I dont get it?
She has told me she wants us to be a couple for halloween (like dress
like romeo and juliet), and has expressed interest to go visit my
family with me next march. If these are signs of her wanting to be
with me, then what gives?

It seems to me like she just wants to be able to see other guys? Now,
if thats the case, I refuse to share the position I'm with her with
another guy. We're more than good friends, like I said before to
anyone else it would appear we were a couple. I wont allow her to do
the things she does with me with another guy, this position is only
big enough for one person, do you know what I mean?

It just seems to me like she wants the best of both worlds. What
should I do? I like this girl a lot, she knows I do, and everything
for months has told me she likes me back. Her sister has told me
behind her back how much she adores me, so what gives?

Should I make her make a decision about us? and If I get the same
answer, should I back away? Or should I give it time, and keep trying
to move in?

Thanks for all your advice, this has been wracking me for awhile and
I'm so confused about what I should do.

It's obvious she wants to play the field and not be serious with anyone
right now. If you really love her, you should let her be herself, and get
it out of her system. She's young, and it sounds like she is not ready to
settle down.
