This week I'm following the flu diet.
Chicken soup that I can't taste, more chicken soup that I can't taste, and to
top that off, chicken soup that I can't taste.
So far, it seems to be working ... I have no appetite and I'm loosing weight
despite staying in bed most of the day.
When I'm not on the flu diet, I'm on a moderate carb diet.

LOL... oh, Kat, I'm sorry to hear that... but at least you have a
sense of humor about it.

Sounds like you've got a cold, not the flu.. either way, hope you get
to feeling better soon, and cherish the lbs you lose.

It's the flu ... I just didn't include the puking, chills, muscle pain etc

I've found that I needed to experiment a bit to find what macronutrient
ratio worked for me.

I've found that I needed to experiment a bit to find the macronutrient
ratio that worked for me. Logging my food at www.Fitday.com and keeping
a food journal was incredibly useful to helping the answer come into focus.

For me, I have to cut out junk foods because they don't fit in a calorie
budget: they don't leave me full enough so I last to my next planned
meal without hunger and deprivation. It just works easier to really,
really monitor my carbs and only allow ones that have something good to
offer for all their calories, like fiber or phytonutrients.

I also have to have quite a lot more fat in my diet than I used to think
was good. I cut out butter and most animal fats but have lots of fish
and put peanutbutter or ground flaxseed in my oatmeal in the morning now.

In the end I eat a balanced diet of roughly (very roughly) a 1/3 of my
calories coming from proteins (mostly fish, turkey, chicken & pork
loins) and 1/3 of my calories coming from fat (mostly fish or seed oils)
and 1/3 of my calories coming from vegetables, fruits or whole grains
like brown basmati rice or a half of a whole wheat bagel.

The reason I do this is that I feel less hungry and more energized on
this sort of diet and don't feel the need to eat junk food for quick
energy boosts and I therefore keep within a calorie budget better.

It's also important to drink a lot of water and to get enough sleep and
to do regular exercise: it's all part of the same system.

This ng has a wide range of plans. I'd say I just eat less and exercise
more than I did before I lost weight. I'm probably more toward the low
fat than low carb end of the spectrum but I have a bit of Mediterranean
Diet and "Eat, Drink and Be Healthy" mixed in. I think that we are all
trying to eat a balanced diet and be healthier in general.

A few months ago, Crafting Mom wrote that she was on the Crafting Mom
Diet. I think that most of us are more or less in the same boat. I'm
on the jmk plan :-)

Hope you're feeling better, Kat. The flu season seems to be a nasty one
this year. My granddaughter was home with it last week. I stopped by her
school to get her homework assignments and the teacher said she had 11 of
the 24 in her class out with the flu.

I eat lower calorie (not necessarily less food), more exercise, moderate
carb (due to sugar concerns) but that doesn't seem to be working very well
for me right now.. although it has in the past. I'm just doing something
differently this time around and I need to figure out what it is. I'm
half-assing it till christmas and then I'll get into the nitty gritty of it.
Right now there is way too much else to do to have the time to figure it
out.

I just had to make an exception to my "no junk food" rule for practical
purposes, too: I was working on an intellectually intense 15 hour job
this week-end and the best way to keep my mind sharp was a constant
stream of sugary stuff. It was all about glucose to fuel the brain.

Bill Phillips says that fit people think better. Bull****.

I guess my point is that we have to modify our WOE to fit circumstances
as we go through life. I'm planning on getting back on track as of now
and SLEEP when I'm tired instead of eat.

Dally, who just finished the last corporate return due today
