But I just have a problem with this "reducing saturated fat will prevent you from having heart disease," which is totally unfounded. I don't believe that the premise that reducing saturated fat by 15% will reduce heart disease. I also believe that seafood is meat. If the animal gives its life, it's meat. Now, if they said, "sugar free, partially hydrogenated oils free Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays," then I might be inclined to believe that they could change things. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

I'd have fruit and cheese for dinner, usually with a glass of wine. It was a nice, light meal, and I dropped it because of the crackers I'd have with the cheese. Then again, I might try it again with whole grain crackers. I do believe that variety is good (heck, I have a freezer full of seafood and eat nuts almost daily). But I just have a problem with this "reducing saturated fat will prevent you from having heart disease," which is totally unfounded. I don't believe that the premise that reducing saturated fat by 15% will reduce heart disease. I also believe that seafood is meat. If the animal gives its life, it's meat. Agreed. I realize someone will come in with some compelling reason why seafood isn't meat, but it's animal flesh. If I went back to my own meatless Mondays, I wouldn't include smoked salmon or the like because it's animal flesh and, to my mind, a meatless Monday is a vegetarian day (not a vegan day, however, so I can still have the cheese). Now, if they said, "sugar free, partially hydrogenated oils free Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays," then I might be inclined to believe that they could change things. This is a brilliant idea. Throw in Saturdays and Sundays, and you've got a plan! Daria 166/under 145/under 145 sugar-free since 2/1/04 low-carb since 2/17/04 |

It's so curious how they can collectively find so much fault with meat & sat fat but can't seem to have any fault with eating all of the rest of this man-created frankenfood. It goes against common sense, if you ask me. |
