Default Creamed Cabbage?

I don't know if creamed cabbage even exists, but if it does, I'd really
appreciate a recipe or two. My SO wants to have scalloped potatoes as a
side dish for our ham dinner on Sunday. It would be nice to have a
comparable dish for me. I have xanthan gum on hand for thickening.

Thanks in advance!

What's wrong with some cauliflower or broccoli with a cheese
sauce.

I personally don't think that cooked cabbage goes with ham.

Another thought is creamed spinach.

I was thinking.... I like cabbage (NON-cooked). Do you have a hand bender,
or food processor, or blender and you put cabbage NONCOOKED and whipped
cream in it and BLEND IT...

What do you think?????

I think you could skip the cream, use mayonnaise and call it "coleslaw"!!!!

Sounds like very bad cole slaw, liquified. Yuck!

Making regular cole slaw is a thought though.

Well, I was hoping to find a recipe that someone here has tried and
enjoyed, but I followed your advice and got this:

Creamed Cabbage
http://www.mountainharmony.com/curves/mh_recipes1.htm
Cook 2 quarts of shredded green cabbage in 1/2 inch of boiling water, in a
tightly covered pot, for about 5 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Drain, and
stir in 1/2 cup cream or half-and-half, a couple of tablespoons of butter,
and a little nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Now all I have to do is figure out how much cabbage is in a quart.
Seriously, I'll just fill a 3 quart saucepan 2/3 of the way full, then add
the water.

My honest opinion? Mental illness comes to mind. G Seriously, this
does not sound like anything I'd try. Ever. Thanks for the thought,
though.

P.S. My other post was truly meant to be a joke. It's like I'm mentally
ill (I am), so I figure I can make jokes about that. However, I shouldn't
have done that to someone I don't even know. I apologize for using bad
taste.
